TIDBIT

Laura Ingraham has done some radios ads for a local Tucson company and I think this means that her show is getting enough ad revenue because of Fats Limbaugh.

RUSSELL PEARCE IS STILL SUCKING AT THE GOVERNMENT TEAT

Pearce still has his job at the Maricopa County Treasurer’s office so I think it's time we gave Treasurer Charles "Hos" Hoskins a call:

(602) 506-8511

SEN. LINDSEY GRAHAM ISN'T THE ONLY DRAMA QUEEN

His literally hysterical remark about ISIS:
“This is a war we’re fighting, it is not a counterterrorism operation! This is not Somalia; this is not Yemen; this is a turning point in the war on terror. Our strategy will fail yet again. This president needs to rise to the occasion before we all get killed back here at home.”
was matched by our illustrious Secretary of Defense, Charles Hagel:
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel warned of the threat posed by militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS or ISIL), calling the group an "imminent threat to every interest we have."

STUFF I WASN'T INTERESTED IN

iOS 8, iPhone 6, Scotland's independence vote and Common Core.  Google+ didn't get the hint I gave by all the "mutes" I gave articles on these topics.

FATS LIMBAUGH MAKES TALK RADIO NEWS AGAIN

This time it's for his fucked up remarks about the NFL & domestic violence:
September 18, 2014
NTS Media Online

A fundraising email sent out by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) this week is urging recipients to sign a petition demanding that companies pull all advertising support from Rush Limbaugh’s program. The DCCC email reported that, during a discussion on rape and domestic violence, Limbaugh said, “‘No’ means ‘yes’ — if you know how to spot it.” Limbaugh’s camp wasted no time in firing back at the latest attack on the talk host by his critics, with spokesperson Brian Glicklich stating, “The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) email about Rush Limbaugh is an intentional lie, using 10 words carefully selected from his full comments to imply the opposite of what he actually said. It is a disturbing and cynical attempt to fundraise from the serious problem of sexual abuse. Even for the partisan DCCC, this reprehensible behavior reaches a new low. They should apologize to women everywhere, and donate the funds they raised by this fiction to the real victims of sexual violence. We are waiting for their explanation.” At last check the online petition had attracted some 250,000 responses.
TRANSCRIPT OF LIMBAUGH’S ON-AIR COMMENTS:
“Consent must be freely given, can be withdrawn at any time, and the absence of ‘no’ does not mean ‘yes.’” How many of you guys, in your own experience with women, have learned that ”no” means “yes” if you know how to spot it? Let me tell you something. In this modern world, that is simply not tolerated. People aren’t even gonna try to understand that one. I mean, it used to be said it was a cliche. It used to be part of the advice young boys were given. See, that’s what we gotta change. We have got to reprogram the way we raise men.”
You can also watch video of Limbaugh’s comments, recorded live during his Premiere Networks syndicated radio show HERE.

RUSSELL PEARCE IS FINALLY GONE

This GOP douche bag was the first Arizona state legislator to be successfully recalled.  After that, he lost his comeback bid and now after spouting some really pure Social Darwinism, he's lost his position in the state GOP:
Tucson woman replaces Pearce as GOP vice chair
Arizona Daily Star

Parralee Schneider, of Tucson, has been appointed to replace Russell Pearce as vice chair of the Arizona Republican Party.

Pearce quit his post this week following controversial remarks about mandatory birth-control implants for women receiving Medicaid benefits, among other things. He said the comments were a mistake, but politicians from both parties denounced his remarks.

Schneider has “an extraordinary amount of talent, experience, dedication to our cause,” party chair Robert Graham said in a press release.

She ran for state House several times, most recently in 2010.

ANOTHER VICIOUS CYCLE

(h/t Mark Thoma)

This is just more evidence for Keyne's notion of aggregate demand and it's relation to the general economy.  The moral here is that inequality hurts the overall economy because the top 1% just doesn't spend enough.
Income Inequality Pressures State Tax Revenue, S&P Says

WALL STREET JOURNAL

What is the real impact of separating wages for the wealthiest Americans and everyone else?

Standard and Poor’s Ratings Services offered a new answer Monday, arguing that a rising share of income to the wealthiest Americans has resulted in less tax revenue than would otherwise be the case, making it harder for states to fund all of their services.

S&P found that wealthier Americans, who have seen the most income gains in recent years, also have higher savings rates than many other Americans, meaning they are likely to hold onto a larger share of their money and not spend it. That means a smaller portion of this money ends up as sales taxes collected by states.

“And since one person’s spending is another person’s income, the result is slower overall personal income growth despite continued strong income gains at the top,” S&P said.

SURPRISING INFORMATION

PC Mag has a few tips about how to find out how much personal information is publicly available.  I was most impressed with the Wolfram Alpha results about Facebook.

PSYOP FROM THE PAST

(h/t Martin Longman)

It's no longer news that the Pentagon often lies to us and because I tried hard to keep track of the lies about Iraq,  I'm surprised I missed this whopper:
U.S. says militant leader nonexistent
The head of Islamic State of Iraq is an actor playing a character created to make a foreign-led group appear to be Iraqi, officials assert.
July 19, 2007|Tina Susman | Times Staff Writer
LAT

BAGHDAD — In March, he was declared captured. In May, he was declared killed, and his purported corpse was displayed on state-run TV. But on Wednesday, Abu Omar Baghdadi, the supposed leader of an Al Qaeda-affiliated group in Iraq, was declared nonexistent by U.S. military officials, who said he was a fictional character created to give an Iraqi face to a foreign-run terrorist organization.

SOMEBODY TELL DICK CHENEY & HIS SUPPORTERS

American conservatives used to ask those opposed to the Iraq War if we preferred Saddam Hussein and for a while, that was a difficult question, at least for me.  Since 2006, however, I'm convinced that the world would be better off if Saddam were still in charge and here's a little more evidence to support that claim:
Islamic State group's war chest is growing daily
By KEN DILANIAN 3 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — Islamic State militants, who once relied on wealthy Persian Gulf donors for money, have become a self-sustaining financial juggernaut, earning more than $3 million a day from oil smuggling, human trafficking, theft and extortion, according to U.S. intelligence officials and private experts.

Analysts say the group is relying on the fact that the area along the border between Iraq and Turkey has long been a smugglers haven, and was made more so by the fall of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein in 2003.
