OK, THIS REALLY IS GOOD NEWS FROM IRAQ

This will help keep the violence down and that means we can get out of Iraq sooner rather than later.

Muqtada Al-Sadr Extends Iraqi Cease-Fire
By KIM GAMEL – 34 minutes ago

BAGHDAD (AP) — Anti-U.S. cleric Muqtada al-Sadr announced Friday that he has extended a cease-fire order to his Shiite Mahdi Army by another six months, giving Iraq a chance to continue its fragile recovery from brutal sectarian violence.

Strata is crowing about defeat for the anti-war crowd and victory for America. Someone should tell AJ, Bush vowed four years ago US troops would disband all Iraqi militias, emphasis on Al Sadr's, who was also to be arrested for murder.

No militias have been disbanded, and this pro-Iranian, anti-American, anti-Israel leader and his Mahdi Army stand ready to take on a significant power role in the new Iraqi government. Strata believes this is the time for an "I told you so." Hey, AJ- I told you so, you're a fool.

The Mahdi Army is one of the few forces in Iraq who want a unified country. If they lose out in the power struggles there, that will lead to more fragmentation.

The Iraq War has created a terrible mess. Continuing the occupation only makes things worse.

Strata is on the warpath against Obama's "gaffe", which is now a conspiracy theory involving the military. But AJ should note, more than half all Americans believe (correctly) Bush lied about the WMD
"evidence" to faciliate inception of the war. You're swirling in a teapot tempest, AJ and one of your commentors betrays a real dynamic behind your contrivances:hope for a military coup should Obama win.
