McCAIN TRIPS UP AGAIN

First, McCain tries to paint Obama as another Jimmy Carter:
In a speech intended to kick off a lengthy discussion about the nation's energy needs, McCain accused Democratic Sen. Barack Obama of favoring failed energy policies based largely on the imposition of higher taxes.

"If the plan sounds familiar, it's because that was President Jimmy Carter's big idea too -- and a lot of good it did us," McCain said in the speech.

Second, McCain calls for an energy efficient Federal government:

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Republican John McCain said Tuesday the federal government should practice the energy efficiency he preaches, pledging as president to switch official vehicles to green technologies and do the same for office buildings.

THIRD, THAT'S WHAT JIMMY CARTER TRIED TO DO!!!

From Britannica:

In 1977 the president, whose mistrust of special interest groups such as the oil companies was well known, proposed an energy program that included an oil tax, conservation, and the use of alternative sources of energy.

You may not remember this but in 1979, President Jimmy Carter installed solar panels on the roof of the White House West Wing.

The panels, which were used to heat water for the staff eating area, were a symbol of a new solar strategy that Carter said was going to "move our nation toward true energy security and abundant, readily available energy supplies."

But in 1986, President Ronald Reagan took the solar panels down when the White House roof was being repaired. They were never reinstalled.
