I've been listening to wingnuts whine about Pres. Obama's decision on contraceptives and I think I know why they are so upset. This is from Fats today:
They want to create the idea -- and it's no coincidence that he came out with it after Minnesota and Colorado which were Santorum's victories -- they want to create the impression that the Republicans will ban contraception.
Marc Simone was the guest host on Hannity's radio show today and he also raised the suspicion that the Democrats were trying to portray the Republicans as willing to ban contraceptives.

Because it is official Church doctrine, some Catholics do oppose contraceptives, among them Rick "Fetus Boy" Santorum:

Starting at the 18:00 mark, after a moving description of what his disabled 3-year-old daughter has taught him, Santorum says this:

“One of the things I will talk about that no President has talked about before is, I think, the dangers of contraception in this country, the whole sexual libertine idea. Many in the Christian faith have said, ‘Well, that’s okay. Contraception’s okay.’

“It’s not okay because it’s a license to do things in the sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.”

Schlafly Criticizes Koop for Condom Recommendations
BYLINE: By JERRY ESTILL, Associated Press Writer

Mrs. Schlafly said sex education in schools "is an encouragement to promiscuity and it is an offense against the First Amendment right of those of us who believe that premarital sex is wrong."

"I would prefer that public schools teach children to abstain from sexual activity until they get married," she said.
