ANOTHER LTE

I post these to show that it is possible to have a local effect.

Incompetence is rewarded

The author of the Aug. 14 letter to the editor "Responsibility is key" wrote, "We conservatives believe in . . . personal responsibility." Really? Well, let's look at just three cases:

George Tenet: head of the CIA when we had arguably our worst intelligence failure, 9/11.

Paul Bremer: head of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq when we handed out 363 tons of $100 bills without any accounting.

Tommy Franks: planned the invasion of Iraq without having an adequate postwar plan.

What do all three have in common? There were awarded the Medal of Freedom by Bush.
