A long time ago, I think the late 60s - early 70s, I wondered what gave magazine pundits the right to say "we think" and claim that they spoke for most Americans. Decades later, I recalled that thought as I watched Sam Donaldson, I think, express amazement that most Americans didn't care much about Clinton's lie even though the Beltway was all astir. I am still puzzled but the picture is getting a little clearer for me.
