TRANSPORTATION LTE

I get another one published:

Plan for the future
Re: the Nov. 12 editorial "At some point, we will run out of fossil fuels."

I applaud the Star's call for planning now for the upcoming era of expensive oil. It's too bad the people behind the Regional Transportation Plan didn't bother to.

Tucson

Background:

Tucson has been afflicted by people who believe, or at least tell us, that "growth pays for itself," and that has led to urban sprawl. We can't repair the roads we now have yet the new plan calls for building over 800 miles of new roads. The money won't come from the developers who mostly benefit but from a sales tax increase imposed on all of us.
