RADIO TIDBITS

Slots went sticky wet over Fredo's appearance in W. Va. before a military audience and went on to highlight a woman's criticism of the media coverage of Iraq. Jeff Crites, his on-air sidekick, spoke positively of war bitch Ingraham's appearance on the Today Show (see below, see NBC's response and read Redhedd's smackdown of the bitch). I've been wondering where Slots broadcasts from and by looking at his co-workers bios (here), it seems to be a Salem Radio Network (SRN) studio. SRN is a nest of wingnuts like Dennis Prager and Jeebus Freaks like Janet Parshall.

Slots then compared the military people asking questions and
the press asking questions. The military people are real but the reporters are just posturing. Slots asked if the reporters may not be rooting for us to win in Iraq.

Slots mentions that
the fundies are bailing on Fredo because of the possibility in Afghan that a convert to Christianity may be put to death for turning away from Islam. Even the Washington Times chirps up:

A democracy founded on the principles of freedom and tolerance does not kill religious dissenters. This was why Afghanistan under the Taliban was considered one of the most oppressive countries in the world. What have American soldiers achieved if they have not eliminated this barbaric medieval legacy?

This looks like a snag for Fredo's Freedom's on the March propaganda. For those of you who don't know, the Iraqi constitution states the following:

Article 2:

First: Islam is the official religion of the State and it is a fundamental source of legislation:

A. No law that contradicts the established provisions of Islam may be established.

The constitution also states that it guarantees "the full religious rights of all individuals to freedom of religious belief and practice such as Christians, Yazedis, and Mandi Sabeans." but this is unlikely to happen given the religious discrimination already present in Iraq:

While the Government respected the right of the individual to worship according to conscience, conservative and extremist Islamic elements continued to exert tremendous pressure on other groups to conform to radical interpretations of Islam's precepts.
Hehehe - a caller said don't be worried about Afghan because just as America was pretty fundamentalist when it was founded but became more liberal over time, Afghan will also. Slots didn't like the "L" word and suggested replacing it with "tolerance."

I think this is going to be a fun week for liberals.
