The DoD has come out with it's latest quarterly report on "Measuring Stability and Security in Iraq" .
Here are some key points:
In the past three months, the total number of attacks 2 increased 22%. Violence in Iraq was divided along ethnic, religious, and tribal lines, and political factions within these groups, and was often localized to specific communities. (page 3)
2 For this report, attack numbers compare figures from August 12, 2006 through November 10, 2006 to those from May 20, 2006 through August 11, 2006. (page 49)
