TAXES, RAYGUN, CLINTON & REVENUE

Wingnuts often brag about how much the Raygun tax cuts increased Federal revenue but NEVER mention what happened under Clinton for obvious reasons, as we will see.

The Tax Policy Center has a table of Federal Revenue from 1940-2004, with estimates for the years 2005-2010. I've extracted the relevant years for both Raygun & Clinton and calculated the percentage increase in revenue from their first year in office to the last year for which they made a budget. The dollars are the equivalent amounts in year 2000 dollars.

RAYGUN ----- CLINTON
1981 1,077.4 1993 1,323.1
1982 1,036.9 1994 1,413.9
1983 961.7 - 1995 1,482.3
1984 1,016.8 1996 1,557.7
1985 1,082.6 1997 1,661.0
1986 1,107.3 1998 1,793.0
1987 1,196.1 1999 1,874.7
1988 1,235.6 2000 2,025.2
1989 1,298.9 2001 1,945.7
