VP Cheney repeatedly made hysterical assertions about the Iraq War in the run-up to the 2006 elections.

The war on terror is a battle for the future of civilization. It's a battle worth fighting. It's a battle we are going to win. The terrorists have made Iraq the central front in this war.

The same is true of the men and women serving in Iraq. They have declared an intention to arm themselves with weapons of mass destruction, to destroy Israel, to intimidate all Western countries, and to cause mass death here in the United States.
To remove this danger to civilization we have to proceed on many fronts at the same time -- from law enforcement, to diplomacy, to intelligence and to military action, when
necessary.
