WAR WHORES LYING AGAIN

UPDATE: Mike Stark has the audio clip from Slots' show.

On 3/27/07, Sen. McCain talked about Iraq with Wolf Blitzer. Here are some gems from McCain:

BLITZER: Here's what you told Bill Bennett on his radio show on Monday. "There are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods today. The U.S. is beginning to succeed in Iraq." Everything we hear, that if you leave the so-called Green Zone, the international zone, and you go outside of that secure area, relatively speaking, you're in trouble if you're an American.

MCCAIN: You know, that's where you ought to catch up on things, Wolf. General Petraeus goes out there almost every day in a non-armed Humvee. I think you ought to catch up. You see, you are giving the old line of three months ago. I understand it. You certainly don't get it through the filter of some of the media.

Can ANYONE really believe that Petraeus goes around in an unarmored Humvee? Wouldn't that be a great question to ask the general? Michael Ware provided a reality-based rebuttal to McCain's lunacy and that made one of AOL's blogs.

Remember when Pres. Fredo said that Tal Afar was a success story? Remember the truth about Tal Afar (here & here) ? Here's a little more truth:

Police accused in sectarian revenge killings
POSTED: 2:19 p.m. EDT, March 28, 2007

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Shiite policemen are being blamed for a Wednesday wave of shooting deaths in Tal Afar that authorities are characterizing as revenge for two truck bombs that left dozens dead a day earlier. (Tuesday's deadly truck bombs targeted markets in the northern and central parts of Tal Afar, Mayor Najam Abdulla said. The bombs detonated within minutes of each other, he said. The explosions killed at least 85 people and wounded 183 others, according to the Iraqi army officer in Tal Afar. A year ago, President Bush touted Tal Afar as a success story for U.S.-led forces. )

Officials said at least 70 people were killed in the attacks, an Iraqi Army officer in Tal Afar said. Another 40 people were kidnapped and 30 were wounded, the officer said.

There is evidence the gunmen were members of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's Mehdi Army, a Turkmen Front Party official in Tal Afar said.
