HOW MANY AL QAEDA IN IRAQ?

I've posted before that Al Qaeda makes up only a small part of the insurgency in Iraq, although they do account for some of the more devastating attacks. At his press conference (4/26/07), Gen. Petraeus let us know that the incoming Al Qaeda fighters are relatively small in number:

Q Number of foreign fighters?

GEN. PETRAEUS: I wouldn't hazard I guess. What I will say is that there are certainly dozens of foreign fighters who do come into the country on a monthly basis; again, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on the state of the network.
