McCAIN & THE PRIMARIES

I've been a bit puzzled by Sen. McCain's preposterous remarks about Iraq and I was thinking that perhaps he's doing this to appeal to the GOP base. I found a tiny bit of confirmation for this from Geoffrey Dickens at NewsBusters:

Now any GOP insider could tell them McCain's support for the war is one of the key stances that is keeping McCain afloat with the base of the party.
