SLOTS LIES AGAIN

This morning Slots Bennett said the recent Pew survey on global attitudes was "conducted" by Madeleine K. Albright. Given the tone of voice Slots had when he said this, the implication seemed to be that the survey is unreliable. Because Albright has no experience conducting surveys, this statement is suspicious. Looking at the report itself, we find that Albright had no hand in conducting the survey:

The Pew Global Attitudes Project is co-chaired by former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright, currently principal, the Albright Group LLC, and by former Senator John C. Danforth, currently partner, Bryan Cave LLP. The project is directed by Andrew Kohut, president of the Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan “fact tank” in Washington, DC that provides information on the issues, attitudes, and trends shaping America and the world. The Pew Global Attitudes Project is funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts, with a supplemental grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

Pew Global Attitudes Project team members include Bruce Stokes; Mary McIntosh, president of Princeton Survey Research Associates International; and Wendy Sherman, principal at The Albright Group LLC. Contributors to the report and to the Pew Global Attitudes Project include Rich Morin, Richard Wike, Juliana Menasce Horowitz, Carroll Doherty, Michael Dimock, Elizabeth Mueller Gross, Paul Taylor, Jodie T. Allen, and others of the Pew Research Center. The International Herald Tribune is the project’s international newspaper partner. For this survey, the Pew Global Attitudes Project team consulted with survey and policy experts, regional and academic experts, journalists, and policymakers. Their expertise provided tremendous guidance in shaping the survey.

Wendy Sherman certainly has the credentials to participate in this survey:

Wendy R. Sherman, Principal

Wendy Sherman has twenty-five years of public- and private-sector executive-level management experience. She has served as Counselor of the Department of State, Special Advisor to the President and Secretary of State on North Korea, and Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs which included responsibility for securing the Department's more than $23 billion annual budget appropriation. As a chief troubleshooter to two Secretaries of State, Ambassador Sherman's portfolio included Asia, the Middle East, Central America, North Korea, Russia and Cuba, as well as transnational issues. She directed the Fannie Mae Foundation as President and CEO and also served as a member of the Fannie Mae Operating Committee.

I wonder how many of his listeners will bother to go to the Pew site and check out Slots' claim?
