Wingnuts often claim that the military is like 90,000% behind Fredo, the GOP and the Iraq War. There's plenty of evidence to the contrary and I'd like to share one piece here. Walter B. Jones is the GOP House member who coined the term "freedom fries" to protest France's position on the looming Iraq War.
In 2005, Jones turned against the war and voted to set a timetable for withdrawal. Jones is from a heavily military district. It includes "The world's largest Marine Corp Air Station is located 18 miles from New Bern and is the area's largest employer pumping over half a billion dollars into the local economy."
IF the military really were as the Talk Radio Republicans say, one would expect Walter to have had a difficult re-election race in 2006. The results below show that he didn't.
