KRISTOL RESPONDS TO THE READERS

The WaPo had a live, online discussion session featuring War Whore Kristol responding to comments about his atrocious op-ed piece. This guy gets close to what bothered me:

Greenbelt, Md.: You have been wrong about every important prediction you have made about the outcome of this war and this presidency -- why should anyone pay attention to you now?

Kristol's reply is disingenuous:

William Kristol: Feel free not to!
As I mentioned below, the point is that this half-wit and lunatic gets to air his fringe views in a major newspaper when anyone else who had been so wrong, so often, would be properly ignored.

Another commenter gets closer to the real issue, Iraq:

Washington: Hypothetically now, if is turns out that the surge does not have any positive effects in Iraq come September/October, what do you think will be the
course of action?
Do you think a troop draw-down will go into effect immediately
following that?

I think the word "any" shouldn't have been used, "enough" would be appropriate. Kristol's reply hinges on that distinction:

William Kristol: Yes. If there's no improvement at all, it will be very, very difficult to sustain any support for the war, and the debate will be about how to get out.

I suspect almost any improvement will be enough for War Whores like Kristol.
