HEGSETH == LYING WHORE

Pete Hegseth is part of Vets for Freedom, an agit-prop group of soldiers who support the Fiasco in Iraq. As this USA Today article reveals, he is both highly partisan:

"The Democrats, unfortunately, are trying to undermine the efforts of our troops and restrict the ability of our generals to carry out their mission," Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said at a July news conference with Hegseth and other members of the group Vets for Freedom, which supports a continued U.S. presence in Iraq. "These patriotic Americans who are behind us deserve an opportunity to be heard," McConnell said.

Later that week, Hegseth — a National Guard soldier who worked as a civil affairs officer in Samarra last year — stood behind President Bush in a news conference chastising Democrats for not passing a spending bill for the troops.

AND A LIAR:

Hegseth said the group is still non-partisan.

AS WE CAN SEE FROM THESE FACTS:

Hegseth's Vets for Freedom is firmly rooted in politics as well, but with Republican ties instead. The group has worked with former White House spokesman Taylor Gross, and Campaign Solutions — headed by Republican consultant R. Rebecca Donatelli — helps manage its online media.

Adriel Domenech, the press contact for the group, is a former intern with the Republican National Committee and worked on Bush's 2004 campaign in Colorado. Most recently, Domenech worked for 13 months in Iraq for the State Department public affairs office under Bush.

When you will lie about one thing, then it can be assumed that you'll lie about anything. From my SourceWatch article: http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Pete_Hegseth

On August 17, 2007, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council wrote: http://www.frc.org/get.cfm?i=WU07H09&f=RF07B06

:"Last year, Pete formed an organization called Vets for Freedom, whose growing influence is the feature of a lengthy article in today's Washington Times. Pete says he started the group because he felt the 'pro-mission vets' voice,' was not being heard in the debate."

In a July 17, 2007, article published by Military.com, Christian Lowe wrote that, in 2006, Pete Hegseth "was leading Soldiers in combat, tamping down the flames of the sectarian bloodletting that erupted after a massive explosion demolished the so-called 'Golden Mosque' on his home turf of Samarra, Iraq ... Despite the danger, he saw value in his mission of stabilizing Iraq and fighting terrorism. ... But his fight didn't stop upon his return to high-intensity civilian life in New York City - just the tools he'd use to wage it." See http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,13319,142577,00.html

:Note: "In between tours" to Iraq, Hegseth "worked as an analyst" at the "leading global investment banking, securities trading and brokerage firm" See http://www.bearstearns.com/sitewide/our_firm/index.htm and http://www.mindingthecampus.com/about.html

Lowe then wrote:

:"So Hegseth teamed with former Marine infantry leader Wade Zirkle and other Iraq and Afghanistan war vets to muster troops to their cause. They started Vets for Freedom in 2006 hoping to energize like-minded vets of recent combat deployments into a fifth column will help influence the war debate."

Although both accounts make a nice news story, story it may well be, since Hegseth's name was not associated with Vets for Freedom before May 9, 2007, when Hegseth, described as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. National Guard, appeared on Chris Matthews' MSNBC show Hardball as a VFF spokesman. See http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18592814/

At the time, Hegseth's name did not appear on the VFF website. (Verified May 9, 2007.)

In a May 21, 2007, posting on ''Power Line'' Blog, Hegseth announced that he had became VFF's Executive Director, -- See http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/017704.php, which includes Hegseth quote from Minneapolis ''Star-Tribune'' -- replacing VFF co-founder Wade Zirkle. See http://web.archive.org/web/20060712151720/www.vetsforfreedom.org/about/ archived page from July 2006.

Additionally, in January 2006, when VFF was founded, Hegseth's name is not found among or associated with VFF's founding members. Nor is it found on any official VFF (or Vets for Freedom Action Fund]]) documents -- See http://forms.irs.gov/politicalOrgsSearch/search/Print.action?formId=22747&formType=E71 IRS Form 8871 for Vets for Freedom Action Fund, July 25, 2006 -- VFF news releases, or appearances by VFF members prior to May 2007.

As of July 9, 2007, Hegseth was "working full-time" as VFF's executive director. See http://swacgirl.blogspot.com/2007/07/vets-for-freedom-win-war.html ''SWAC Girl'' Blog, July 12, 2007.

This blog post is blind ideological partisan babble. Pete Hegseth is one of the most honorable men America has produced and Vets for Freedom is indeed a noble and non-partisan organization. It is a verifiable fact that Democrats have in general not been aligned with the mission of Vets for Freedom (although some have, like Joe Lieberman) whereas Republicans generally have supported its mission (although some have not like Ron Paul). It's that simple. To use such vitriol and unwarranted name-calling is low class to say the least. Shame on you.
