SLOTS AND THE FEAR CARD

This morning, Slots claimed that FBI Director Mueller testified in March 2006 that Hezbollah was trying to infiltrate the U.S. through our southern border. I found this a bit fantastic so I used Lexis-Nexis to get the transcript1 and here's the only mention of Hezbollah:

CULBERSON: Have you had any other examples or have you run across any examples of individuals with connections to terrorist organizations attempting to enter the United States? I know about the South African woman that was intercepted in McAllen and there was also an individual named Al Hodge (ph), apparently, that was arrested.
We had a number of reports of individuals who were attempting smuggling rings where they were attempting to or where the reports said that there were efforts being made to smuggle in the United States. To date, there have been very few. None, in my mind, related to Al Qaida in which that has turned out to be true.
I remember, probably all of us remember, maybe a year, year and a half ago, there was a report about four Chinese scientists were being smuggled into the United States who would end up with a nuclear weapon up in Boston, that all washed out after a period of time, and most of those reports have.
There's been one instance that I'm aware of in which your report turned out to be accurate, and this was an occasion in which his Bala operatives were assisting others with some association with Hezbollah and coming into the United States. So that was an organization that we dismantled and identified those persons who had been smuggled in. And they have been addressed as well.
CULBERSON: How were they entering the country?
MUELLER: I'm not certain of the specifics, but they were entering from the southern border.
CULBERSON: OK. They're crossing over the southern border.
MUELLER: Yes.

So, the group that was assisting people with "some association" to Hezbollah had been dismantled by March 2006 and Slots did not provide any newer evidence. A casual listener would think that this has been a continuing problem and I'm sure that was Slots' intention.
