THE LIMITS OF THE NOISE MACHINE

Despite months of lies and disinformation about the Iraq War, the GOP Noise Machine didn't make much difference in the public's attitudes about the war. Atrios noted that an AP poll showed that "Asked if the United States made a mistake going to war in Iraq in 2003, 57 per cent said yes, about the same number who said so in April."

USA Today/Gallup did a poll and found this remarkable result: 60% of Americans want a timetabel for withdrawal regardless of what's going in Iraq at the time!
Here are the details:

2007 Sep 7-8

29. If you had to choose, which do you think is better for the U.S. -- [ROTATED: to keep a significant number of troops in Iraq until the situation there gets better, even if that takes many years, (or) to set a time-table for removing troops from Iraq and to stick to that timetable regardless of what is going on in Iraq at the time]?

Keep troops in Iraq until situation gets better 35%
Set time-table for removing troops from Iraq 60%
No opinion 5%
