On his radio show today, Hannity claimed that under Raygun, 21 million jobs were created. The real number isn't even close. The Bureau of Labor Statistics keep tracks of these numbers here so it's very easy to get them.
I'll use January 1981 as the starting number and December 1988 as the end number and look at total non-farm employment, seasonally adjusted, in 1000s.
JAN 1981 91031
DEC 1988 106871
NET GAIN = 15,840,000 jobs
The corresponding number for Clinton is much larger:
JAN 1993 109725
DEC 2000 132484
NET GAIN = 22,759,000 jobs
If you just look at private sector jobs, the results are similar
RAYGUN
JAN 1981 74671
DEC 1988 89135
NET GAIN = 14,464,000 jobs
CLINTON
JAN 1993 90824
DEC 2000 111680
NET GAIN = 20,856,000 jobs
