WEYRICH LIVES IN THE PAST

Paul Weyrich, the arch-conservative who recently came out for Romney, is all upset because the Federal government may start doing more to create housing for the poor. Because this function is not expressly stated in the Constitution, Weyrich thinks it's a bad idea. One wonders what he thinks about funding for the Air Force, another budget item unanticipated by the Founders.

I can't be sure if he means this as sarcasm or not: "How times have changed." but it's a stupid remark in either case. The move to ameliorate the harsher conditions of raw capitalism began with the Progressive Movement (1896-1920) and has continued in one form or another to the present.
