THE NEW BIG THREE

No, not a replacement for Ford, GM and Chrysler but the new global political structure. According to Parag Khanna of the New America Foundation, writing in the NYT Sunday Magazine, the new dominant parties on the planet are China, the EU and the U.S. This is an interesting read and I believe shows that the neo-con delusion of a purely American World Order won't happen. I do have one quibble with this claim:

It doesn’t help that Congress revealed its true protectionist colors by essentially blocking the Dubai ports deal in 2006.

This I would blame on the Bush regime, wingnut pundits and gasbag radio. At the time this issue came up, they had been screaming about the Islamic Threat to Western Civilization for years and that naturally affected the American public's perception of the deal.
