I'm thinking (and hoping) that Al Qaeda and other extremists may be wearing outtheir welcome in Pakistan. Killing tribal leaders is the method they tried in Iraq and that ultimately failed because it was one of the factors behind the Anbar Awakening.

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan — Islamic parties sympathetic to al Qaida and the Taliban have lost a great deal of support since they won their greatest political victory in the country's history five years ago.
The parties have been hurt by internal splits, leadership rivalries and widespread disdain for the hard-line Islamic rule they advocate.
