MORE IRAQI INCOMPETENCE

While the U.S. is in an economic turndown, the Iraqis have a budget surplus. In addition to the rampant corruption in Iraq, managerial incompetence plays a role:
U.S. officials contend that Iraq's lack of spending is due primarily to Baghdad's inability to determine where its money is needed most and how to allocate it efficiently.

USA Today reports on a poll of Americans on the Iraq War and finds this:
...the 60% who call the invasion a mistake and want to set a timetable to get out are fractured into four distinct groups, a USA TODAY analysis of public opinion toward the war concludes.

They include those who want U.S. troops out immediately and others, like Tease, who argue America has an obligation to improve Iraq's stability before going.

I understand the morality of helping the Iraqis but I think we've done enough. It's up to them to improve their country.
