THEY CAN'T ADMIT THEY WERE WRONG

Scott at Powerline reports that Stephen Hayes, one of Cheney's recommended sources for links between Saddam and Al Qaida, is STILL defending his absurd claims after the DoD released an exhaustive study that didn't find any links. ABC has posted the full report here and this is from the Executive Summary, page 15:

This study found no "smoking gun" (i.e., direct connection) between Saddam's Iraq and al Qaeda.

I'm afraid the truth,as I hear it is, the remaining supporters of the war are clinging to myth while also having it both ways,unabashedly. That is, after they quibble on the nature of the
Al Qaeda presence, they almost always continue on to justify a pre-emptive attack based on what Saddam might have done in the future. Creeping imperial hubris?
Nah, it was always there.
