DNC’s Dean: Romney Would Be More Feared Than McCain
Susan Davis reports on the presidential race.
Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean told reporters today that he never viewed Sen. John McCain as the toughest competition for Democrats in the presidential race.
“Mitt Romney was the candidate I feared the most,” Dean said at a press conference to unveil recent internal DNC polling on McCain, the expected Republican nominee.
Dean said in the early stages of the presidential race he thought Romney was the candidate to beat, in part because of his personal wealth, and also because he viewed Romney as the most articulate candidate who would “say anything” to win the nomination.
