WHO'S EXTREME?

The North Carolina GOP made an ad that used a clip of Pastor Jeremiah Wright to make the claim that Obama is "too extreme" for North Carolina. Did they forget about former NC Senator Jesse Helms, the man who is a racist pig? And what about Fats Limbaugh? He has repeatedly wished that riots would break out at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. (Crooks & Liars has the transcript and audio of his latest outburst.) Finally, what about McWAR's buddy, the "reverend" Hagee, the one who blamed the devastation of New Orleans on homosexuality?

The conservatives get away with calling ordinary liberals extremists of one sort or another and by doing that over and over, move the acceptable political discourse to the far right.
