GEEZ, I WONDER WHICH PROGRAM DOCTORS WOULD PREFER

Private insurance or public insurance?

The AMA released a study of claim processing and claim payment and the private sector didn't really shine.

Consider payments that adhere to the posted imbursement rates by the companies. For the 7 insurance companies studied, United Health Care (UHC) had the lowest rate, 61.55%, and Coventry had the highest, 86.74%.

In contrast, Medicare's adherence rate was 98.12%.

This is important because doctors spend time & money trying to straighten out these claims. According to the AMA, "Physicians are spending as much as 14 percent of their total collections to obtain accurate payment for their services. "
