GOOD FOR GEN. WESLEY CLARK

McCain has correctly admitted that he doesn't know much about the economy and all the evidence you really need is that Free Market Fairy Phil Gramm is one of his senior advisors. A nice added touch is his admission that he doesn't know the price of gas, (other reactions here) which brings to mind Pres. Fredo's surprise a few months ago when he was told that gasoline may hit $4/gallon. What we have in both cases is another case of GOP indifference to the average American and startling incompetence.

Gen. Wesley Clark (ret.) appeared on Face the Nation today and correctly pointed to McCain's lack of executive experience. Clark said that McCain lacked the executive experience necessary to be president, calling him “untested and untried” on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” And in saying so, he took a few swipes at McCain’s military service.

“He has been a voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee. And he has traveled all over the world. But he hasn't held executive responsibility. That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded — that wasn't a wartime squadron,” Clark said.

“I don’t think getting in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become president.”
