Thanx to the NewsHounds, I found another example of conservatives re-arranging the political spectrum to suit their agenda. Daniel Pipes, a notorious anti-Muslim neo-con and Likudnik, was a guest on Hannity & Colmes last Friday and made these statements about the freakshow Rev. Hagee.

COLMES: Then why aren't you holding McCain responsible for being endorsed by John Hagee. He had to retract the endorsement. A guy who said that Hitler was sent by God to hunt Jews, who offended Catholics, who had to apologize for that. By Rod Parsley, who said that, you know, Islam is an anti-Christ religion.
Why don't you apply the same standard to those who endorse John McCain? Many of those have been retracted.
PIPES: Happy to. John Hagee has made some statements which, obviously, John McCain disagrees with, which I disagree with.
COLMES: He sought their endorsements.
PIPES: But -- but, he is someone who is not at the extremes of American life who is dealing with and close to or endorsed by those who hate the United States. This is someone who's a patriot.
COLMES: Wait a minute. You don't call Hagee someone who says God was sent -- Hitler was sent by God to move the Jews to Israel? You don't call that an extreme position? You don't call that someone at the extreme of American life?
PIPES: No, I don't call it that at all.
COLMES: Really?
PIPES: Because if you look closely you'll find a whole lot of Jewish theologians who have said something similar to that. I don't subscribe to that myself.
But he is working within the mainstream of American political life. He is a serious and important actor in the pro-Israel movement. And I might add that I'll be speaking for him next month at his conference.
COLMES: And he says New Orleans got what they deserved because -- because they were going to have a gay rally and then Katrina happened? That's not an extreme position?
PIPES: A lot of things I don't agree with, but these are not people who hate -- he is not someone who hates the United States. As opposed to so many of the people who are endorsing or supporting -- Barack Obama.COLMES: All right.
Yup, Hagee is mainstream and Obama isn't because Obama doesn't blame hurricanes on God's haterd of homosexuality.
