Dan Froomkin at the WaPo, "Mukasey the Obstructionist," points out that there is plenty of reason to look into this:
In the closing arguments of the trial at which Libby was found guilty, Fitzgerald declared: "There is a cloud over the vice president. . . . And that cloud remains because this defendant obstructed justice."
Michael Isikoff and Mark Hosenball at Newsweek, "Closing the Door," found this expert opinion:
"As far as I know, this is an utterly unprecedented executive-privilege claim," said Peter Shane, an Ohio State University law professor who is an expert on executive privilege and separation-of-powers issues. "I've never heard this claim before."
The next time you hear someone say the GOP is for the rule of law, remember this shameful episode.
