RADIO TIDBITS

Fats Limbaugh & the radio gasbags are incredibly self-centered. They applaud anyone who owns a regular, low gas mileage SUV and its even better when they have two. In Fats' mythology, driving a gas-guzzler is defending the American way of life and it doesn't matter what the price of oil is or where the money for oil is going.

I know Fats doesn't have and doesn't want children but I got a chuckle out of this report:
Watch your waistline: Fat men have bad sperm

By MARIA CHENG

In research presented Wednesday at a meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, scientists found that obese men have worse sperm than normal-weight men.

Hannity is still pushing the GOP meme that "It's a character issue" and began his show using sound bites that attempt to show that Obama is a flip-flopper. On Iran, I have to admit that Hannity seems to have a point. In May, Obama clearly stated that:
“Strong countries and strong Presidents talk to their adversaries. That’s what Kennedy did with Khrushchev. That’s what Reagan did with Gorbachev. That’s what Nixon did with Mao. I mean, think about it: Iran, Cuba, Venezuela — these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don’t pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us. And yet we were willing to talk to the Soviet Union at the time when they were saying, ‘We’re going to wipe you off the planet.’ And ultimately, that direct engagement led to a series of measures that helped prevent nuclear war and over time allowed the kind of opening that brought down the Berlin Wall.”

And then after Iran launched some missiles, Obama changed his tune:

Obama calls Iran "threat," says tighten pressure
Wed Jul 9, 2008 8:51am EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Wednesday said Iran is a "great threat" and called for tighter sanctions after it test-fired nine missiles.

"Iran is a great threat. We have to make sure we are working with our allies to apply tightened pressure on Iran," the Illinois senator, who will face Republican John McCain in the November election, said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

I understand that these statements are not actually contradictory but when Hannity plays the sound bites, it sures gives that impression and someone who isn't following the news very closely will believe that Obama flip-flopped.
