COUNTERPUNCHING IS NOT ENOUGH

I REALLY like how quickly the Obama campaign responds to attacks by McCain and others but I think we have been in the position of discrediting BS and it's usually a little too late to prevent some of the BS from sinking in, unless it's a truly enormous whopper. McCain has the advantage of wingnut radio spreading the crap for free, almost 24/7 and we don't have anything comparable on the radio and we're not likely to anytime soon. That's one of the reasons I try to point out how deluded Limbaugh & Hannity are but I wish we could also have more push back from our national leaders.

As I think about the posts on AOL, it strikes me that we liberals are most often replying to the wingnut BS instead of putting forward our own memes. The little experiment I did on the "character" issue seemed to pay off, at least on those boards, because I used a GOP meme against them. Perhaps we need to look at the GOP meme bank and use some of them to our advantage. Destroy GOP memes == destroy the GOP.
