While Sen. Obama has little foreign-policy experience, Sen. McCain was in the Navy, was a prisoner of war for 5½ years and has long sat on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Being a fighter pilot does NOT add to one's competence on foreign policy, although it may be good for a future FAA administrator. Being a prisoner of war is a personal misfortune, not a learning experience. Being on the Armed Services Committee means little because McCain obviously hasn't been paying much attention. He has confused Sunni and Shia several times and has made several other blunders.
