ANOTHER GOP LIE...

UPDATE: The McCain campaign tried to push this fraud and even elaborated on it, so Mary Katherine Ham should also call the campaign "disgraceful." (h/t Atrios) Atrios linked to a story on TPM but the site is extremely busy and I can't get to it now.

UPDATE II: Jonathan Martin of Politico reported yesteday that "A McCain aide says that both the McCain and Palin have called the family of the victim."

This isn't surprising because the GOP has to lie to avoid becoming a fringe party. Even some of the wingnuts are upset about this attempted fraud:

The McCain supporter who claimed she was attacked by an assailant at a Pittsburgh ATM, who then became enraged by her McCain-Palin sticker and carved a "B" into her face, has admitted the incident was a hoax.

Ashley Todd, a College Republicans volunteer, reported to police that she was assaulted by a 6-foot-4 black man after getting money out of an ATM Wednesday.

She has managed to well and truly hurt the very people she purported to be helping, by going from volunteer to vigilante fabricator. The College Republicans have terminated her, as they should have.

By calling Todd out swiftly and condemning her in the strongest terms possible, we can keep it that way. Bizarre and disgusting.
