PROOF THAT OBAMA IS WRONG ABOUT IRAQ WAR
Barack Hussein Obama Junior has made his opposition to the Iraq War the foundation of his candidacy - arguing that it shows he has good if not great judgment.
There's a small problem with this: HE IS WRONG ABOUT THE WAR.
The war was good right justified and necessary.

Following is a transcript of Kay's opening remarks before committee members began questioning him.
KAY: As you know and we discussed, I do not have a written statement. This hearing came about very quickly. I do have a few preliminary comments, but I suspect you're more interested in asking questions, and I'll be happy to respond to those questions to the best of my ability.
I would like to open by saying that the talent, dedication and bravery of the staff of the [Iraq Survey Group] that was my privilege to direct is unparalleled and the country owes a great debt of gratitude to the men and women who have served over there and continue to serve doing that.
A great deal has been accomplished by the team, and I do think ... it important that it goes on and it is allowed to reach its full conclusion. In fact, I really believe it ought to be better resourced and totally focused on WMD; that that is important to do it.
But I also believe that it is time to begin the fundamental analysis of how we got here, what led us here and what we need to do in order to ensure that we are equipped with the best possible intelligence as we face these issues in the future.
Let me begin by saying, we were almost all wrong, and I certainly include myself here.
Sen. [Edward] Kennedy knows very directly. Senator Kennedy and I talked on several occasions prior to the war that my view was that the best evidence that I had seen was that Iraq indeed had weapons of mass destruction.
I would also point out that many governments that chose not to support this war -- certainly, the French president, [Jacques] Chirac, as I recall in April of last year, referred to Iraq's possession of WMD.
The Germans certainly -- the intelligence service believed that there were WMD.
It turns out that we were all wrong, probably in my judgment, and that is most disturbing. [ABOUT SADDAM'S POSSESSION OF WMD STOCKPILES.]
We're also in a period in which we've had intelligence surprises in the proliferation area that go the other way.
The case of Iran, a nuclear program that the Iranians admit was 18 years on, that we underestimated. And, in fact, we didn't discover it. It was discovered by a group of Iranian dissidents outside the country who pointed the international community at the location.
The Libyan program recently discovered was far more extensive than was assessed prior to that.
There's a long record here of being wrong.
There's a good reason for it.
There are probably multiple reasons.
Certainly proliferation is a hard thing to track, particularly in countries that deny easy and free access and don't have free and open societies.
In my judgment, based on the work that has been done to this point of the Iraq Survey Group, and in fact, that I reported to you in October, Iraq was in clear violation of the terms of [U.N.] Resolution 1441.
Resolution 1441 required that Iraq report all of its activities -- one last chance to come clean about what it had.
We have discovered hundreds of cases, based on both documents, physical evidence and the testimony of Iraqis, of activities that were prohibited under the initial U.N. Resolution 687 and that should have been reported under 1441, with Iraqi testimony that not only did they not tell the U.N. about this, they were instructed not to do it and they hid material.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
* UNSCR #1441 was Saddam's last chance, and he failed to adhere to its terms.
* Saddam was in material breech of UNSCR #1141 and the preceding and relevant UNSCR's which functioned as the armistice for the Gulf War.
* By violating the armistice, Saddam caused a state of war to recur.
* As such, the Iraq War was not preemptive based on lies or distortions, but a resumption of a war because the armistice was violated.
EVEN HANS BLIX AGREED:
Jan. 27, 2003 – After 60 days of inspections by U.N. officials, Iraq appears not to be cooperating with Security Council Resolution 1441.
"Iraq appears not to have come to a genuine acceptance, not even today, of the disarmament which was demanded of it and which it needs to carry out to win the confidence of the world and to live in peace," chief U.N. inspector Hans Blix told Security Council members this morning.
Therefore, the entire foundation of Obama's campaign is seen to be wrong: Obama was WRONG to oppose the war.

A recent ABC News poll of Iraqis find that they, unlike some Democrats, do not think of Saddam's rule as the good old days.

BUSH, IRAQ, AL QAEDA AND THE LONG WAR: once and for all, dispelling the lies of the Left
Leftists are fond of saying that - with regard to Iraq - "Bush Lied and people died." They love to chant: "NO BLOOD FOR OIL!" I'd like to disprove these charges once and for all:
(1) "SADDAM AND 9/11": Bush asked for and received a SEPARATE authorization to attack Iraq and did NOT use the 2001 AUMF to attack Saddam. If he had belived that Saddam was connected to 9/11, then he could have merely used the 2001 AUMF. This proves that Bush never EVER DIRECTLY connected Saddam to 9/11. (There are, though, unequivocably ties between Saddam and al Qaeda and other jihadoterrorist groups.)
(2) "BUSH LIED ABOUT WMD": Neither the UNSCR#1441 or the 2002 Congressional authorization to attack Saddam limited the reasons Saddam was a threat to WMD stockpiles, but in fact contained two dozen reasons why Saddam was a threat to the USA and our allies and our interests. If Bush thought that WMD's were the only reason to go to war, then he would NOT have bothered to make sure all those other imporant points were in the resolution. Many had to do with the UNSC resolutions which Saddam had violated, and MOST of these had nothing to do with WMD.
ADDITIONALLY: Ex-Cia man Pillar - who has been getting a lot of press recently, rehashing his old vague and unsupportable charges - has recently been forced to REPEATEDLY admit that the Robb-Silberman Commission report was entirely correct when it concluded that not a single solitary intelligence officer or report was altered or adjusted in any way due to political poressure from anyone. And Pillar has also admitted that Cheney was 100% correct when he said that all intelligence agencies from all nations agreed that Saddam had WMD. Tertefore: BUISH DID NOT LIE.
(3) "SADDAM WASN'T AN IMMINENT THREAT": As to the charge that Bush lied about Saddam being an imminent threat - for without WMD stockpiles there could be no "imminence": Bush specifically argued that he would NOT wait for threats from untrustworthy tyrants like Saddam to become imminent because that would be too late.

(4) "MISSION NOT ACCOMPLISHED": When Bush appeared on the deck of that aircraft carrier in front of that banner which said "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" that part of the mission which that aircraft carrier was involved in had been accomplished, as was the mission for most of the troops which invaded Iraq and deposed the genocidal tyrant Saddam.
The current fighting is against DIFFERENT forces with a different goal than Saddam, and as such it comprises what is essentially a SECOND mission: securing a self-determined pluralist democracy for Iraq. When this mission eneds - probably in 2007, then Iraq will have to maintain its security on its own. In a larger sense, we can only declare total victory in Iraq at that time.
(5) "DEMOCRACY FOR IRAQ WAS NEVER REALLY A GOAL": The very challenging goal of democracy for Iraq was EXACTLY what Bush said his ultimate goal was when he addressed the UN General Assembly in September of 2002 - a month before UNSCR#1441 was passed, four months before Saddam filed a false "fional decaration" - in ciolatiuon of UNSCR#1441, and six months before the war began. There was no "rush to war" and democracy was not an after the fact rationalization rushed into place when the ISG failed to find stockpiles. NOTE: the ISG did unequivocably determine that Saddam was in violation of most of the UNSR's which functioned as the armistice for the Gulf War.
(6) "NO BLOOD FOR OIL": It was liberal Democrat president Jimmy Carter (and not Bush, Cheney or Halliburton) who - in 1980 - declared that Gulf Oil was strategic necessity for the USA and the West, and that the USa would use any means necessary to defend its flow to the West. This became known as The Carter Dioctrine and has the same force today as it did then and as the Monroe Doctrine still has today. It is NOT a partisan policy inveernted to please oil companies; it is recognbition that the world's economy and the world's PEOPLE needs energy to survive, and the USA will guarantee that the world gets that energy. (REMEMBER: Europe and Asia get more oil from the Gulf than the USA does!)
If we won't fight to save our way of life and economy from becoming held hostage to oil-strong islamofascist tyrants, then we might as well NOT fight for anything - a position that the Left mostly endorses!
THEREFORE: When Leftists claim that Bush lied about Saddam's connections to 9/11, or Saddam's WMD, and what the exit strategy of mission was, or that democracy was ever a reason to depose Saddam - and that "BIG OIL" was the real reason we went to war - THEY ARE LYING, NOT BUSH.
The Left's and the MSM's continuous assault on Bush and Iraq (now screaming "civil war!") only serves the enemy by undermining support for our ultimate cause and the larger war.
Ultimately, we will only defeat jihadoterrorism when we drain the swamp. Tyranny - and the poverty which tyranny produces - is the "swamp." Democracy is the "drain." Since tyrants don't often leave voluntarily - and because islamofascism can only thrive under a tyranny - war and threat of war are really the only means of implementing this policy.
Appeasment only encourages the enemy. Draining the swamp will take a long time; hence, "THE LONG WAR." It might be a shorter war if the Left were firmly on OUR side. I'M NOT HOLDING MY BREATH!

DISPROVING THE LEFT'S BIGGEST "BIG LIES" ABOUT IRAQ
The whole entire gist of the Dem/Left attack on Bush and the Iraq war is that they claim that the war was unnecessary, unconnected to the GWOT - and also - because it is going badly there now - a major strategic blunder.
They argue this because they claim that:
(1) Saddam had not violated any of the UNSCR's WMD provisions;
(2) Saddam was contained by (a) the sanctions and (b) the NO-FLY ZONES;
(3) Saddam had no relationship with al Qaeda or other jihadoterrorists.
ALL THESE CLAIMS HAVE BEEN PROVEN FALSE. THESE CHARGES - BEING REPEATED AND REPEATED IN THE MSM ARE LIES. WHAT IS CALLED "THE BIG LIE."
(1) Saddam was in violation of the WMD provisions of the UNSCR's: he had illegal weapons and missiles and illegal weapons and missile programs. [More HERE and MUCH MORE HERE!] ALSO: Kay and Duelfer each testified that Saddam was in violation of various UNSCR's - which constituted the armistice for the 1991 Gulf War; [KAY: "We have discovered dozens of WMD-related program activities and significant amounts of equipment that Iraq concealed from the United Nations during the inspections that began in late 2002."
The ISG unequivocably proved that Saddam was in violation of the UNSCR's which constituted the armistice for the 1991 Gulf War. Violating an armistice is de jure cause for war, for re-starting hostilities; WHAT IS MORE, SADDAM ALSO VIOLATED UNSCR#1441 - HIS FINAL CHANCE. Therefore, the WMD case for war was fine. MAJOR POINT: Stockpiles of WMD were not a necessary precondition for war, nor the only precondition for war.
(2a) The sanctions have been proven to have been a horrible failure on all grounds; they did not stop Saddam from getting under-the-table money to spend on himself and his fellow Sunni Baathists, or on illegal weapons, and they did not alleviate the suffering of the captive Iraqi people.
(2b) The US and UK enforced NO-FLY ZONES were the only thing stopping Saddam from committing more genocide against the Shias and the Kurds. US and UK jets enforcing the NO-FLY ZONES were routinely fired upon by Saddam's military forces - in and of itself an act of war.
(3) Saddam had a relationship with al Qaeda - which BOTH the Clinton Administration and the 9/11 Commission acknowledged. IN ADDITION, in 1991 when he was confronted with the possibility of a US military counter-attack to his invasion of Kuwait - Saddam warned our Ambassador to Iraq that while Iraq's military couldn't attack the US, he could send an Arab terrorist to attack us. ALSO: Zarqawi and other jihadoterrorists were in Iraq BEFORE the war. More HERE. The Saddam-Jihadoterrorist connection was real and a real threat, a threat which - in a post-9/11 - world could no longer be ignored.
The Dem/Left is wrong; Bush was right to go to war; Bush had just cause. And - contrary to what the Dem/Left and the MSM want you to believe, it is NOT going badly in Iraq: They have a constitution and soon will have an elected Parliament. SURE: the bloody battle against jihadoterrorism continues in Iraq, but it also continues in Thailand and India and Russia and France and many other places that have NOTHING to do with Iraq, or Bush (or Israel!).
A democratic Iraq will be a good ally in the GWOT and a bulwark of democracy in the region. We mustn't give up the fight! We mustn't lose our reslove or waiver. Only a lack of resolve can defeat us. The truth is on our side, and the cause is just. Our troops are gallant and brave. So when the Left urges appeasement or retreat or revisionism, just say, "NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!" And say, God Bless Bush. God Bless Our Troops - and Those of Our Allies. And God Bless America.

IN 1991, SADDAM DIRECTLY THREATENED THE USA WITH TERROR ATTACKS - and in 2003 Bush FINALLY did something about it!
SADDAM: "The United States wants to secure the flow of oil. This understandable and known. But it must not deploy methods which the United States says it disapproves of -- flexing muscles and pressure. If you use pressure, we will deploy pressure and force. We know that you can harm us although we do not threaten you. But we too can harm you. Everyone can cause harm according to their ability and their size. We cannot come all the way to you in the United States, but individual Arabs may reach you."
This quote proves that Bush was right to dethrone Saddam because this was a direct threat to the continental USA - one which could not be tolerated in a post 9/11 world.
This blatant threat coupled with the fact that Saddam had used WMD (against his own citizens in Halabja, and against Iranians), and was sponsoring international terror (by sending money to Palestinian terrorist groups) and was harboring terrorists (including Zarqawi and Abu Nidal) and was firing on our jets patrolling the NO-FLY ZONES (which were the only things preventing his continued genocide against the Kurds and the Shias) made his continued rule over Iraq a serious threat.
In 1998, the Congress passed and Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act - making regime change in Iraq the official policy of the USA. IN ADDITION, Saddam was in violation of several UNSCR's - which constituted the armistice for the Gulf War, and therefore - technically and legally - a state of war existed. When the UNSC unanimously oassed UNSCR #1441, they specifically warned Saddam that this was his last chance to get back into good graces, and what did he do??? Saddam filed what is UNIVERSALLY regarded as a false declaration. This essentially burned his final chance.
By using force to oust Saddam, all Bush did was implement UNSCR's and defend the security of the USA. This was - and remains - the president's most important duty, and in regard to Iraq, it was a duty he had the Congressional authority to ensure with the use of force - and authority granted to him in October of 2002 - THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE SOTU IN WHICH HE CITED BRITISH INTEL' ABOUT IRAQ'S ATTEMPTS TO BUY URANIUM IN AFRICA --- A FACT WHICH WAS ONLY A SINGLE FACET OF A MULTIFACETED CASE AGANIST SADDAM.
I bring this up today because with all the hubbub surrounding the Plamegate grand jury, and the Saddam Trial, I think it's important to remember that the first job of ALL presidents is to protect and defend the USA. We should NEVER allow our nation to be governed by a president - a COMMANDER IN CHIEF - who makes that a secondary priority - as Clinton did (remember, BJ Clinton didn't do enough to strengthen our defenses or counterattack our enemies after Somalia, the African embassy bombings, the Khobar bombing, the USS Cole attack. Still don't believe me that Clinton was DERELICT? Then just read the Freeh book!).
BOTTOM-LINE: Ousting Saddam made his threat to us moot. And it has changed Kaddafy, freed Lebanon - and will soon liberate Syria, too. And utterly isolate Iran.
It took great courage for Bush to stick by his guns and do the right thing. We are safer as a result (because Saddam canno threaten us or the Saudis or the Israelis or anyone else) - and the world is becoming a better place, too: democracy is spreading, and the swamp which breeds jihadoterrorism is draining - (that swamp is NOT anti-Americanism; it is tyranny and the poverty and ignorance which tyranny produces). In Iraq we are killing jihadoterrorists and we are constructing a society which will diminish the appeal of jihadoterrorism, and which will inspire other peoples and other nations - which are under the thrall of tyranny - to become free - as in Lebanon.
Joe Wilson - andf those who use him - are using LIES in a YEARS OLD attempt to show that the war was not justified. They are wrong. I think I have proven they are wrong, FOR EVEN IF BUSH NEVER MENTIONED AFRICA AND URANIUM IN HIS SOTU, USING FORCE TO OUST SADDAM WAS RIGHT! And in September of 2002 - BEFORE Congress authorized Bush to use force to oust Saddam - Bush spoke to the UNGA and gave a long laundry list of reasons why Saddam had to go, and why his exit would lead to the spread of democracy and proerity and peace.

People like Joe Wilson and Dean and Pelosi (and Bill Clinton) are bad for our national security. They are untrustworthy, cowardly, mendacious self-serving jerks who have directly and indirectly aided our enemies. Wilson is one of the worst culprits; he has used outright LIES to try to cast a negative light on Bush's courageous decision to use force to oust Saddam. Wilson should go on trial after Saddam!
ADDENDUM: the FACT that Saddam should have been removed will NOT be changed ONE IOTA even if Rove and/or Libby are indicted FOR ANYTHING. But that will not stop the Left - and the MSM they still dominate - from spinning any indictments as "proof that Bush lied, and people died - needlessly, (or for oil)."

(b) PRESIDENTIAL DETERMINATION- In connection with the exercise of the authority granted in subsection (a) to use force the President shall, prior to such exercise or as soon thereafter as may be feasible, but no later than 48 hours after exercising such authority, make available to the Speaker of the House of representatives and the President pro tempore of the Senate his determination that--
(1) reliance by the United States on further diplomatic or other Peaceful means alone either (A) will not adequately protect the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq or (B) is not likely to lead to enforcement of all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq; and
(2) acting pursuant to this joint resolution is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorist and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations, or persons who planned, authorized, committed or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.

The Left - and the MSM they control - have tried to smear Bush from the get-go. Here's a partial listing (originally - on 7/17 - this list was merely a dirty dozen) of the idiotic phony scandals they've trumped up in an attempt to smear our president - even if it means aiding the enemy! This expanded list has been compiled from 7/17-19 with help from my readers. Here we go:
1 - "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" - The Left/MSM would like you to believe that Bush declared the war in Iraq over. He did not. Bush declared an end to major combat - which was true. In the same speech Bush said that the struggle continued, and it was going to be a difficult transition. QUOTE:
Thank you. Thank you all very much. Admiral Kelly, Captain Card, officers and sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln, my fellow Americans, major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed. And now our coalition is engaged in securing and reconstructing that country. ... We have difficult work to do in Iraq. We're bringing order to parts of that country that remain dangerous. We're pursuing and finding leaders of the old regime who will be held to account for their crimes. ... We are helping to rebuild Iraq where the dictator built palaces for himself instead of hospitals and schools. And we will stand with the new leaders of Iraq as they establish a government of, by and for the Iraqi people. The transition from dictatorship to democracy will take time, but it is worth every effort. Our coalition will stay until our work is done and then we will leave and we will leave behind a free Iraq. The battle of Iraq is one victory in a war on terror that began on September the 11th, 2001 and still goes on.
2 - "PLAME NAME GAME" - Judith Miller is in jail. Rove is cooperating, and released all reporters he spoke to so they can testify, (yet STILL somehow all this is about Rove!?). BOTTOM-LINE: Plame was NOT covert (as defined by the I.I.P.A.), and therefore could not be "outed". As John Tierney of The NYTIMES wrote: this is NADAGATE. There is no there there.
3 - "MEMOGATE" - In a concerted effort to spring an "October Surprise", members of the the Left/MSM manufactured and used FAKE documents to try to prove that Bush did not serve honorably when he was part of the Texas Air National Guard. They did this RIGHT BEFORE THE ELECTION. Texan Dan Rather lost his job; Bush got re-hired. Nuff said.
4 - "ABU GHRAIB" - the Left/MSM portrayed these limited number of disgusting events perpetrated by a few sickos at a prison in Baghdad as pervasive crimes which were the fault of Rumsfeld, Gonzales and Bush. The fact is that months before the disgusting events/photos became public (through the efforts of the perps defense attorneys and a MSM that hungers for anti-Bush stuff SO MUCH, they'll publicize anything - even if it aids the enemy!) the Pentagon was investigating. Now they are prosecuting and punishing the perps.
5 - "NIGER YELLOWCAKE AND THE SOTU" - Bush never said the words "Niger" or "Yellowcake" in the 2003 SOTU. (What he said was: “The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa.” - and the Brits still stand behind this intel. Wilson LIED about how he got the assignment and what he reported about his mission. And he did this RIGHT BEFORE THE ELECTION - and election in which he was an advisor and contributor to Kerry. The real scandal is that the MSM has allowed Wilson to LIE AND LIE AND LIE OVER AND OVER without one network or major newspaper once calling him out on it. COULD IT BE THAT THEY'RE BIASED!? MORE HERE.
6 - "BUSH LIED" ABOUT WMD - The USA and every other major nation had the same intel (and even Clinton believed it). In addition, The Deulfer Report concluded that Saddam was in violation of the UNSC #1441 - and had WMD assets which were banned - Saddam's stockpiles (those he had ion 1991, and MIGHT have made between 1993-2003) were never found. NEVERTHELESS, because Saddam was in violation of all the UNSC's and UNSC #114, a casus belli existed.
7 - "ENRON/Kenny Boy Lay" - the crimes were actually committed on Clinton's watch and prosecuted on Bush's. Yet the Left/MSM blames Bush. This is generally true of ALL the corporate scandals of late (Arthur Andersen/Worldcomm/etc): the crimes were committed under the noses of Clinton & Rubin - who get none of the blame for them from the Left/MSM. Bush - who does get blamed - is actually punishing the crooks and fixing the problems by reforming the markets.
8 - "CHENEY'S SECRET ENERGY TASK FORCE" - The Left/MSM claimed that the Veep had no right to meet with anyone in private - especially not anyone in the energy industry. The Left claimed Cheney was a tool of the industry. The Left did what they love most: dragged it into the COURTS! The Left lost their legal battle, and Bush passed a sweeping Energy Bill - WITH BIPARTISAN SUPPORT. Yawn.
9 - "'IRAQ IS A DIVERSION' BY DICK CLARKE" - Disgruntled bureaucrat, Dick Clarke claimed that Bush could have stopped 9/11 - and claimed that a "Presidential Daily Briefing" in August would prove this; however, the PDB contained NO ACTIONABLE INTEL. Clarke further claimed that Iraq was not involved in terror since 1993 - or cooperating with al Qaeda. BOTH WRONG! In fact, the Clinton Administration had proof of Saddam/al Qaeda operational cooperation, and we have discovered more proof at GITMO. BONUS BOGUS CLAIM: Clarke LIED when he testifed that stepped up counter-terror efforts were the reason the Millennium Attack failed.
10 - "HUMVEE-GATE" - An intellectually dishonest reporter for the Left-wing dominated MSM planted a question/questioner during a miltary townhall meeting Rumsfeld held in Kuwait. At the time the army had not yet reto-fitted armor on to all their 15,000 Humvees; it does take time. FACT: the Humvee was NEVER intended as an ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIER; the Humvee is merely the "new" Jeep. FACT: The enemy always attempts to attack at your weak-points. For a limited amount of time, the Humvees were a weak point. We fixed that, and the enemy moved on to other soft-targets. That's the way war is; it was not a scandal - except in the minds of the Left/MSM. NOW: Retro-fitted/armored Humvees are having other problems.
11 - "AL QAQQAGATE / NYTROGATE" - Just before the election, the LEFT/MSM AGAIN rushed out a phony story about a weapons depot supposedly looted after we took control of Iraq. The whole story was BS.
12 - "GITMOGATE" - Amnesty International calls GITMO a gulag; Durbin upped the ante and followed suit - comparing it both a gulag and a NAZI concentration camp and a Pol Pot "killing field". SHEESH! Durbin cries as he apologizes; (he should have been censured!). The Left/MSM blames Gonzales and Rumsfeld and Bush. A congressional Delegation investigates, and finds GITMO is nearly a country club. HERE'S another report with many links) on their visit - from the NYTIMES; they buried it on page 15! MAYBE MARTHA STEWART SHOULD HAVE SERVED THERE!? The Pentagon investigated the specific FBI report Durbin misused, and found that it cannot be corroberated. (GOTTA MINUTE? Read this brilliant and hilarious sarcastic piece on the Gitmo scandal by James Lileks.)
(13) "TURKEYGATE" (hat tip reader/commentor PapayaSF) - that supposedly plastic turkey Bush held up on his surprise visit to Iraq - THAT TURNED OUT TO BE REAL! This attempt at smearing Bush proved that the Left - and the MSM they still dominate - will stoop to any depth, tell any lie, deny any truth in order to hurt Bush - even if it helps the enemy. They are shameless.
(14) "LANCETGATE" - that bogus statistical study which claimed to prove that the USA killed 100,000 civilians in the Iraq War. This study was thoroughly debunked. (Civilan casualties were probably between 4,000-8,000.) Read about it HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE - (these are links to link-filled Instapundit postings).
(15a) "KRUGMANGATE" - the Left (led by deranged NYTIMES columnist Paul Krugman) railed that the Bush tax cuts would drive the economy into a depression. WRONG. The USA economy leads the word and deficits are shrinking again. We could call this "HOOVERGATE" (15b) - because the Left kept charging over and over again that Bush was the first president since Hoover to lose jobs on his watch. Of course, by the time the election took place, that was no longer true: the nation was plus 1.5 million jobs, and the job growth has continued and the economy is doing GREAT! Of course, you won't read that much about it in the MSM!
16 - "FUNERALGATE" - this (courtesy of John Cole of Balloon Juice) - is the phony scandal that Bush was somehow being a bad leader (and/or disingeuous) because he wasn't attending any funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq. 17 - "PATRIOT-ACT-GATE" - remember how the Lefties cried and cried and cried about how it was, in effect, a repeal of the Bill of Rights!? They were completely overboard and outta control on that. Today, they cannot name ONE citizen who's had their Rights denied. Yet despite that, they - the ACLU especially - have intervened again and again on behalf of the sworn enemies of America and liberty - making it more difficult for us to prosecute the enemy and to gather intel' on them. And now, the Left is trying to weaken it as it goes through re-enactment. (Hat tip to commentor ARMINIUS - for this and #18!)
18 - "LOOTED BAGHDAD MUSEUM-GATE" - remember how the Left, and the MSM they dominate, railed and railed about how Rumsfeld and the US miltiary had idiotically left the Baghdad Art Musem unprotected and thus has allowed masssive looting of its ancient art treasures (they called it "cultural vandalism" and they meant that WE were the vandals, and NOT the enemy!), REMEMBER!? Well: THAT WAS PHONY TOO! Most of the treasures were hidden - or stolen by insiders.
19 - "Bush first said he'd fire any leaker; now he's not saying that; therefore, Bush is moving the goal-posts-GATE" - (swiped from John Cole's BALLOON JUICE: "... here is what Bush initially said regarding leaks within his administration:
Let me just say something about leaks in Washington. There are too many leaks of classified information in Washington. There's leaks at the executive branch; there's leaks in the legislative branch. There's just too many leaks. And if there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. And if the person has violated law, the person will be taken care of.
This statement, due to the miracle of spin and the President's habit of using imprecise language while speaking extemporaneously, has transmogrified into 'I will fire anyone in my administration who talked about Valerie Plame.' (John Cole)
Of course, that is truly NOT what he said, and NOT what he meant. This FACT hasn't stopped the Left - (folks like John Podesta and the fat senior Senator from Massachusetts, Teddy Jo Kopechne) - and the MSM they still dominate, from LYING and distorting it to suit their narrow partisan ends. Anyone who has the slightest regard for the truth knows that the claim that Bush is moving the goal-posts to protect his cronies is completely BOGUS.
20 - "KORANGATE" - hat tip TRAN SIENT'S WATCH - This is the one in which our military was supposedly deliberately effing with copies of the Koran in order to upset prisoners at GITMO. Only it turned out that most of the Koran abuse - like the toilet-flushing - was NOT by US soldiers, but by the prisoners themselves.
21 - "FLU-SHOT-GATE" - In 2004 (and just before the election), because of a production problem, a major plant couldn't deliver the the flu vaccine to the DHHS. The Left blamed Bush. Kerry/Edwards even ran ads about it! Well, there was no wave of flu-related deaths, were there!? In fact, flu-season came and went RATHER MILDLY! I guess the Left and the MSM just made a mountain out of a mole-hill - or should we say that they TRIED to make a scandal out of THIN AIR, and FAILED! I wonder why!? Could it be .... LEFT-WING BIAS?! Naw, ya tink!? More HERE.
22 - "ABORTIONGATE" - This is the one in which the Left claims abortion has gone UP under Bush because of his policies. EVEN HILLARY PUSHED THIS LINE.
But the FACT was, that there were NO STATISTICS on the issue at the time; (the Left just made up the charge out of whole cloth!). NOW, there are statistics, and they show that abortions continued to decline in 2001 and 2002 (the last years for which statistics are available). (Hat tip KJ at NRO.)
23 - "OHIO-GATE" - The Left charged that Bush stole Ohio in 2004. A study proved that everything was fair and square. (Hat tip Now That's Ironic). ASIDE: actually, Bush lost more states by smaller margins than Kerry did. And Bush did not challenge a single one, or even cast aspersions or innuendo about them. Even though there were much more credible reports of fraud in New Mexico and Minnesota and Pennsylvania than in Ohio. The lefty Dems are just sore sports; they'd rather cheat and wind, than lose fair 'n square. AND THEY DO CHEAT: There have been some convictions of voter fraud against DEMOCRATS. But you won't see it in the MSM or on the evening news. I WONDER WHY!? Heh. By the way: the AP reports that the acting mayor of San Diego was convicted of corruption today. They DON'T mention that he's a DEMOCRAT. Do you think that IF he was a GOP'er that the AP would've left that detail out?! Of course not!
24 - "FBI-ACLU-GATE" - Per Kerr/Volokh (hat tip NRO/ADLER/Corner): Eric Lichtblau's New York Times story about the FBI's keeping records on the ACLU is based on a serious misrepresentation. ... the New York Times reported today that the FBI had 1,173 pages of records "on" the ACLU, which makes it sound like the FBI is keeping a large dossier on the ACLU. ... It turns out that the language of the ACLU request was tremendously broad. The ACLU didn't request just documents about the ACLU, or documents about monitoring the ACLU. Rather, it made an extremely broad request that asked the FBI to collect any documents in its possession that even just referred to the ACLU. ... my suspicion is that the New York Times reported the number of FBI pages that mention the ACLU as if it were the number of FBI pages that were about the ACLU and its activities. It seems to me that the difference is considerable."
YOU BET THE DIFFERENCE IS CONSIDERABLE; it's the difference between a pseudo-scandal and the truth. In other words: the Left tries to strike again, but again they only STRIKE OUT! Here's how the ACLU press release presents DOJ's court filing in response to its FOIA request (again, from Kerr/Volokh): Government Has Amassed Thousands of Pages on National Peace and Civil Rights Organizations NEW YORK — The American Civil Liberties Union today revealed that the FBI has amassed more than 1,100 pages of documents on its organization since 2001, as well as documents concerning other non-violent groups including Greenpeace and United for Peace and Justice.
This is nothing more than RANK DISTORTION and a SMEAR against the FBI. The NYTIMES and the WASHPOST and the rest of the MSM relayed the Left-wing SMEAR as if it was Gospel. The Left and the MSM they dominate have no shame, no morals, and no chance at winning with tactics like this! Thank God!

We should also always remember one of the most annoying and non-productive characteristics of the folks that make these Left-wing smears: even after they've been disproved, the Left-wing talking heads still repeat them over and over and over again. I think their employing the BIG LIE THEORY in practice; they think if the say it often enough people will believe that they're true. And the sad fact is, that because so many people limit their news intake to the MSM or the NYTimes, they have NO IDEA WHAT THEY'RE MISSING: the truth!
And, the MSM cannot get away with using the excuse that they're just INCOMPETENT. After all, nearly ALL the mistakes always benefit either the Left or our enemies in the GWOT. That's NOT incompetence; that's bias verging on treason.
IF I WERE INCLINED TO HELP THE LEFT/MSM, I'D RECOMMEND THAT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SMEAR BUSH WITH PHONY SCANDALS, THAT THE LEFT PROPOSE SOME COUNTER-POLICIES FOR THE GWOT AND THE ECONOMY AND ON OTHER DOMESTIC ISSUES. Not that it would work: The Left's policies are as bad as their phony scandals! Heh.
And I'd recommend to the MSM that they cover the news; there's a lot happening out there, and it's pathetic that they miss most of it! They miss the REAL news because they're too busy trumping up phony news to hurt Bush. NEED MORE PROOF?! Well, here's the CLINCHER: I defy ANYONE to send me a link to ONE SINGLE SOLITARY NEWSTORY which the MSM skewed in a way that was FAVORABLE to Bush! Temodar has been widely used in this country since the FDA approved it in 2000. But a British health-care rationing agency, the National Institute for Comparative Effectiveness, ruled that, while the drug helps people live longer, it wasn't worth the money - and denied coverage for it.
Barack Obama - and other Democrats - have been pushing a Senate bill to set up a similar US "review board" for Medicare and any future government health-care plan.

NHS CUTS CARE AND DECREASES QUALITY - AGAIN
TELEGRAPH: NHS hospitals lose 32,000 beds in a decade
More than 30,000 hospital beds have been lost since Labour came to power, with record cuts in NHS wards last year.
The Department of Health claims bed numbers have fallen because hospitals are more efficient, with patients staying for shorter periods
The cutbacks mean increasing numbers of hospitals are going on "black alert" – which involves closing their doors to new patients because they are full.
Patients' groups described the loss of the beds, at a time when overcrowded wards have seen soaring rates of killer infections, as "a national scandal".
The reduction contradicts a pledge from Tony Blair at the turn of the century that there would be 7,000 more NHS beds by 2010. New figures, seen by The Telegraph, show that the number of health service beds fell more than 8,000 last year, as the NHS began a reorganisation process which will mean the closure of dozens of hospitals.
More than 40 per cent of maternity units turned away women in labour last year because they had no room.
Meanwhile, ambulances have been forced to queue outside overstretched hospitals, treating patients in car parks just yards from accident and emergency departments. The new statistics, revealed in response to a parliamentary question by Ed Vaizey, the Conservative MP, show that almost 32,000 NHS hospital beds went between 1997, when Labour took office, and 2007.
Tax-payer financed "universal" care sucks.
Yet this is what the Democrats want to do to our system
It would make healthcare in the USA worse.

NHS PUNISHES PEOPLE IF THEY GO EVER PRIVATE
THIS JUST SEEMS SO SO SO SOOOO TYPICAL OF STATE MONOPOLIES; LONDON TIMES:
The National Health Service has refused to pay for an operation to prevent a pensioner’s agonising migraines because the woman paid privately for earlier treatment.
Maureen Alden, 74, from Bristol, spent her life savings on a £13,000 operation two years ago to implant wires into her brain which prevent migraines by stimulating the nerves. The operation was successful and cut her attacks by 80%.
The battery which powers the medical device is about to run out, however, and the retired typist cannot obtain funding for a replacement.
Alden’s case will reignite the debate over the ban on NHS patients supplementing their care by paying for treatments that are not funded by the health service.
Breast cancer sufferers have been told they will be denied NHS treatment if they pay privately for “top-up” drugs. Patients are taking legal action to fight the ban.

INDEPENDENT: Filipino whose wife died after blunder by NHS to be deported
A man whose wife died as a result of an NHS blunder has lost his right to remain in Britain, in what a coroner described yesterday as an "extraordinary" decision.
Arnel Cabrera, 39, came to Britain from the Philippines in 2003 to join his wife, Mayra, a theatre nurse, who worked at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
But a year later, Mrs Cabrera died at the same hospital after she was given an epidural during the birth of the couple's child which was mistakenly injected into her arm. The baby survived.
An inquest returned a verdict of unlawful killing and found the NHS trust had been guilty of gross negligence. Now the Home Office has told Mr Cabrera he has failed in his bid to remain in the UK.
David Masters, the Wiltshire coroner who presided over the inquest, said yesterday: "This is extraordinary. In view of the verdict reached at the inquest I find it difficult to appreciate how the Home Office has reached this decision."
In its letter of refusal, the Home Office said Mr Cabrera had "not established a family life with his son in the United Kingdom". It added: "As his son remains in the Philippines there are no insurmountable obstacles to his family life being continued overseas."

BRITISH COMMISSION: NHS SUCKS: "Elderly patients are being left to starve in soiled bedclothes..."

Elderly patients are being left to starve in soiled bedclothes, a damning report into the Health Service says today.
Tens of thousands of patients suffer appalling service - but their complaints are ignored by negligent trusts, it is claimed.
The report, by watchdog the Healthcare Commission, also said that mothers are being left alone during labour without pain relief.
And GPs come under attack for being rude, allowing patients only the briefest of consultations, and missing signs of deadly diseases.
The commission said that far too often the NHS failed to take complaints seriously, or failed to apologise when clearly in the wrong.

A grandmother performed her own tooth extractions in despair after being turned away by 12 dentists.
Elizabeth Green, 76, was in agony with two front teeth and after a fruitless search for an NHS practitioner, resorted to DIY.
Her case is the latest of many to highlight the dwindling availability of NHS dental treatment.
Grandmother Elizabeth Green suffered hours of agony as she twisted and pulled two of her teeth until they came free
Mrs Green, a former chef, said it was made plain to her that if she could pay for treatment she would have been welcomed.
"I feel so angry," she said. "I've worked all my life and paid taxes and then when I need help I can't get it."

IN agony for days and without a dentist willing to see her, Elizabeth Green felt she had no choice but to pull out her own teeth.
The Hampshire grandmother was in such pain with the two front teeth she wiggled them back and forth for several hours with her fingers until they came away.
The 76-year-old widow has spoken of her anger at being forced to become a do-it-yourself dentist due to the lack of NHS dental care in her area.

Women in labour turned away by maternity units
Women in labour are being refused entry to overstretched maternity units and told to give birth elsewhere, NHS hospitals admitted yesterday in response to an application under the Freedom of Information Act. They disclosed that maternity wards in almost 10% of trusts closed their doors to new admissions on at least 10 days last year. One trust in North Yorkshire closed 39 times between October and January because it did not have enough staff to provide a safe service.

IS THE COST OF HEALTHCARE REALLY "OUTRAGEOUS"? Er, um... NOPE!
One of the standard attacks the left makes is that healthcare costs today are "outrageous." And the Left attacks Big Pharma as if they were ripping you off, and not developing the drugs which save your life.
These attacks are all false.
Sure, healthcare costs more than it used to - as do the drugs for many illnesses, but most of this is because the care and the drugs)are exponentially better.
Any healthcare provider can charge you exactly what healthcare cost in 1975 if you accept 1975-level care.
Look at it this way: a subcompact/economy car cost $2769 in 1975.
Now a subcompact cost $12,630.
But if you want a car as bad as a 1975 Pinto, you can buy it today for $2769.
The 2008 car is more than 10x better than the 1975 car. In fact a subcompact 2008 car is probably better than a top European sports-car was in 1975 - in terms of handling and braking, etc.
Cars are not more expensive now than in 1975; they are better and a better value. You probably couldn't pay someone enough to have them drive everyday in a 1975 Pinto today.
DITTO GETTING ANYONE TO SETTLE FOR 1975 HEALTHCARE TODAY.
SO... saying healthcare costs have "exploded" or are outrageous" (as a new Obama commercial calls it) is to lie; it is PROPAGANDA.
Here's what makes it worse: many of the policies the left/the Dems are proposing would make the healthcare WORSE; they'd retard pharmaceutical R&D, and make our system function as poorly as the NHS, for example - a system the Brits HATE because of the shoddy service.
So, please don't fall for the hyperbolic negativism of the Dems or their socialistic "remedies."
The Dems' remedies are the failed policies of the past.
BTW: The Dems seem stuck in the past - STUCK IN 1975: they had recently ousted Nixon and pulled the plug on our allies in South Vietnam, and dismantled the CIA's clandestine services, and so on. They elected Jimmy Carter who gave us a misery index of a gazillion, and let the USSR invade Afghanistan - and let the islamonazis oust the Shah of Iran.
The last thing we need is to turn the clock back to 1975 - or... October, 1917!

HEALTH chiefs will spend NHS money flying Midland patients to India for treatment under shock plans to cut waiting lists.
The scheme, which has already been discussed by the Indian Health Minister and senior Government officials, could be trialed in either Birmingham or Leicester.
One senior British doctor told the Sunday Mercury that it was "common sense" to send NHS patients to the sub-continent for surgery.
But Shadow Health Secretary Andrew Lansley criticised the move, saying: "I despair at the Government's failure to deal with Britain's inability to deliver the best healthcare in the world."

In the context of Europe’s current brake-slamming on the economic pain caused by green policies, it’s the same point that I had planned to make during a 30-minute Powerpoint show on Saturday for the International Association of Political Consultants — except my half-hour turned into 15 minutes, with no visual aids allowed. [I appeared on a panel with former Shell CEO John Hoffmeister and a greenie who was Central-Casting-perfect. His fact-free, gloomsday ramble included frogs boiling and civilization marching off a cliff.]
Given this unanticipated format change, I was unable to make all my points. The one I did most enjoy offering to this mostly foreign, largely European audience interested in “the politics of global warming” was that we are on track to see the global temperatures having cooled by the day George W. STOKE UP THE CO2, FAST: A NEW ICE AGE IS COMING!

August is the wettest and often the muggiest month of the year. Yet, summer heat continues in short supply, continuing a trend that has dominated much of the 21st Century's opening decade.
There have been only 162 days 90 degrees or warmer at Midway Airport over the period from 2000 to 2008.
That's by far the fewest 90-degree temperatures in the opening nine years of any decade on record here since 1930.
This summer's highest reading to date has been just 91 degrees. That's unusual.
Since 1928, only one year—2000—has failed to record a higher warm-season temperature by Aug. 13.

FASHIONABLE HYPOCRISY: AGW, ORGANIC COTTON AND THE OLYMPICS
Fashion genius Ralph Lauren designed the USA's Olympic outfit. And is a sponsor - along with other apparel companies.
It seems like a natural fit: a majority of the USA's imported apparel comes from China.
I think two things are revealed by it: first, how amoral THE fashion industry IS, and second how hypocritical.
Fashion execs (a VERY "LIBERAL" CROWD!) care very little about the oppression in China and other nations they do business in. But this oppression does REAL DAMAGE to REAL PEOPLE. Meanwhile, most of these very same execs think that AGW is an important issue. Even though virtually NO ONE has been or is likely to be harmed by it. And despite the fact that CHINA is the world's biggest polluter.
These folks are quick to trash the USA and Bush - as being gluttonous polluters who are causing AGW by consuming too much of the world's resources and "exhaling" too much CO2, but LOOK THE OTHER WAY with regard to China - 'cause China puts mega-money in their pockets.
They tell us we should use consume less and go organic, but they (the super-rich designers/retailers etc) are over-consumers who support an oppressive and mega-polluting nation.
AND ANOTHER THING: Ralph used red, white & blue for the team outfit, but NO FLAG.
HE PUT A HUGE POLO/RALPH LAUREN LOGO ON IT THOUGH.
HOW GAUCHE!
HOW PATHETIC.
Anyhow... China is being praised for the "dazzling" opening ceremony.
Sheesh.
Of course It was GREAT: FASCISTS ARE GREAT AT THESE THINGS!
North Korea can do this - but not feed its people.

MUCH of southeast Queensland shivered in freezing temperatures overnight - but cloud banks over Brisbane ensured the city was spared the worst of the weather.
In Brisbane's CBD the mercury fell to 7.2 degrees Celsius, while the airport weather station recorded 5.4 degrees and in the west Amberley hit just 1.4 degrees.
Oakey and Applethorpe both recorded sub-zero temperatures - of -0.3 and -2.1 respectively - but the mercury stayed on the right side of zero in Warwick (0.1), Roma (0.2), and Charleville (0.3).
... Brisbane dams are now holding more water than any time in the past three years, with the average storage level just below 41 per cent.
That level is expected to climb higher after last week's rain, which continued to feed the Wivenhoe, Somerset and North Pine dams.
"Unexpectedly the three dams are continuing to get inflows," an SEQWater spokesman said.
"But we do not think the level will get much above 41 per cent."
When the average passed 40 per cent last week it triggered a relaxation of tough level 6 water restrictions.
Southeast Queensland residents can now wash cars and houses and water gardens for 30 minutes at weekends.
Personal daily consumption can increase from 140 to 170 litres but authorities expect people will continue to use much less.
Since January, Wivenhoe has registered 486mm of rain while Brisbane has received 721mm.

The country's national weather service, SENAMHI has reported that temperatures in the region of Puno have dropped to as low as -26.5°C (-15.7°F).
With snowstorms and freezing winds reaching between 25 and 30 kilometers (15 - 19 miles) in speed, Hernan Saavedra, SENAMHI's regional director assured that weather conditions in Peru's highlands were normal for this time of year.

The government has doubled the number of soldiers assigned to help with relief efforts, state media said.
More than 300,000 troops and almost 1.1 million reservists have been deployed.

Record ice cap growth in Antarctica and record low temperatures in Argentina won't stop global warming alarmists from manufacturing hysteria.
“What a hell is happening this year with a seven-month winter”, asked a famous TV journalist about the unusual climatic winter of 2007 that began with fury in May and still persist in November- Icecap.us.
The Telegraph reported on the record freezing temperatures in South America this year, via Drudge:
Residents in Argentina and Brazil are wondering if this winter will ever end. Buenos Aires recorded this Thursday (November 15th) the lowest November temperature in 90 years. Temperature in the Downtown weather station reached 2.5C. Since records began more than a century ago, only two days had colder lows in November. It was in 1914 (1.6) and 1917 (2.4). And ninety years ago the urban heat island effect was much less pronounced than nowadays. In Brazil's southernmost province Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil temperatures fell to 2.3C. In Sao Joaquim Monday's (Nov., 12) the temperature was -1.2 C with frost.

The much colder than usual weather was not confined to Argentina. This Thursday had near-freezing temperatures and frost in Uruguay. Weather stations recorded 1.5ºC in Trinidad; 1.8ºC in Durazno; 2.4ºC in Tacuarembó; 3ºC in Artigas; 3.2ºC in Melo and Florida; 3.8ºC in Treinta y Tres; 4.1ºC in Paso de los Toros; 4.6ºC in Rivera and 4.8ºC em San José.
Further south, the problem is the excessive ice. The Brazilian Base Comandante Ferraz (file image above) in Antarctica is rationing water. Never in the last twenty years the weather was so cold and snowy this time of the year in the Brazilian post in the South Pole. The nearby lakes that provide water to the base are frozen since September. The heliport that allows the arrival of food and bottled water by air is under three meters of snow. Water for human consumption is limited to the fifty Brazilian researchers in the region and the situations turns more dangerous each day. So, "por qué no te callas Al Gore ?"

"Ohh yes!!! This was one of the coldest years in the history of our country. Imagine that during the winter it snowed in Buenos Aires. That is something totally unlikely because of the weather here, and there were temperatures of 2° centigrades in the last days and we are in spring."

Doug Struck at The Washington Post wrote about the melting polar ice caps this morning:
At the Poles, Melting Occurring at Alarming Rate
...At the South Pole, ancient ice shelves have abruptly crumbled. The air over the western Antarctic peninsula has warmed by nearly 6 degrees since 1950. The sea there is heating as well, further melting edges of the ice cap. Green grass and beech trees are taking root on the ice fringes.
Antarctica's signature Adelie penguins are moving inland, seeking the cold of their ancestors, replaced by chinstrap and Gentoo penguins, which prefer open water. Krill, the massive smorgasbord for a food chain reaching to the whales, are disappearing from traditional spawning grounds.
...The scenario is not new. What is most alarming to the scientists is the speed at which it is unfolding. A decade ago, melting at the poles was predicted to play out over 100 years. Instead, it is happening on a scale scientists describe as overnight.
It was a nice hysterical piece with the Adelie penguins and all, but a bit short on facts...
This is what the University of Illinois reported just 10 days ago:
The Southern Hemisphere sea ice area narrowly surpassed the previous historic maximum of 16.03 million sq. km to 16.17 million sq. km. The observed sea ice record in the Southern Hemisphere (1979-present) is not as long as the Northern Hemisphere. (meaning it has not been tracked as long as the North Pole) Prior to the satellite era, direct observations of the Southern Hemisphere sea ice edge were sporadic.
In fact, ice cap growth in the Antarctic is at its highest level in recorded history!
Somehow that did not make it into the WaPo article by Doug Struck.
Somebody is incorrect in their reporting- The Washington Post or the University of Illinois.
It's your guess.

Say It Aint So, Joe!... Global Temps Are Cooling Not Heating Up
Now, wasn't Joe Biden just talking about how certain he was that man is responsible for global warming?
What about the global cooling, then?
The Astute Bloggers and ICECAP.us reported on the recent cooling:
Many scary stories have been written about the dangers of catastrophic global warming, allegedly due to increased atmospheric concentrations of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2) from the combustion of fossil fuels. But is the world really catastrophically warming? NO. And is the warming primarily caused by humans? NO.
Since just January 2007, the world has cooled so much that ALL the global warming over the past three decades has disappeared! This is confirmed by a plot of actual global average temperatures from the best available source, weather satellite data that shows there has been NO net global warming since the satellites were first launched in 1979.
Since there was global cooling from ~1940 to ~1979, this means there has been no net warming since ~1940, in spite of an ~800% increase in human emissions of carbon dioxide. This indicates that the recent warming trend was natural, and CO2 is an insignificant driver of global warming.
Furthermore, the best fit polynomial shows a strong declining trend. Are we seeing the beginning of a natural cooling cycle? YES.

Arctic sea ice extent on July 16 stood at 8.91 million square kilometers (3.44 million square miles). While extent was below the 1979 to 2000 average of 9.91 square kilometers (3.83 million square miles), it was 1.05 million square kilometers (0.41 million square miles) above the value for July 16, 2007. Since 1999 new evidence has seriously weakened the case that carbon emissions are the main cause of global warming, and by 2007 the evidence was pretty conclusive that carbon played only a minor role and was not the main cause of the recent global warming.

Peru is facing record cold temperatures.
5,000 alpacas have died because of low temperatures and freezing weather before the start of this year's winter season.
Peru has declared a state of emergency in 11 of its 24 provinces.
61 children have died in the record cold this year.
The Peruvian Times reported:
Peru President Alan Garcia enacted a legislative decree to declare a 60-day state of emergency in 11 of Peru’s 24 departments Thursday as temperatures in the Andes region continue to drop dramatically and claim the lives of residents.
As Peru remains in the grip of intense cold — meteorologists have registered temperatures dipping to -22°C, or 7.60 F — the cold weather death toll continues to rise. Sixty-one children have died since April 13.
And, according to Peru’s Health Ministry, more than 50,000 suffer from acute respiratory tract infections and 4,851 from pneumonia.
“Those who are most at risk live in the high Andean regions (3.000 metres or more above sea level) where, since April 15, we have registered the pneumonia-related deaths of 61 children,” Cergio Espejo, a Health Ministry staff responsible for the monitoring of respiratory diseases, told daily Peru21.
The decree, published this morning in the official state daily El Peruano, enacts the President’s call for immediate action in the departments of Apurimac, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica, JunÃn, Lima, Moquegua, Pasco, Puno and Tacna.

Brrrr... Record Snow Blankets Spokane, Washington In June!
It is the latest Spokane has seen snow since records started being kept in 1881.

Washington state sees record cold and snow in June.
KHQ.com reported:
The Spokane area saw record low temperatures and even a little bit of snow Tuesday morning, and all just 11 days before the official start of summer.
Much of the Inland Northwest remained under a snow warning from the National Weather Service Tuesday morning. KHQ received calls from people in Reardan, Moscow, Pullman, Loon Lake, Airway Heights, Deary, Spokane's South Hill, and Deer Park who all say they saw snow Tuesday morning.
...Forecasters expected 5 to 10 inches of wet snow above the 3,500-foot level Tuesday morning in the Cascades with lesser amounts down to 2,500 feet. A Transportation Department spokesman said it's been about 30 years since a snowplow has had to clear Stevens Pass in June.

Also this week, John Coleman, the founder of the Weather Channel, again lashed out at global warming religionists saying:
There is no significant man made global warming. There has not been any in the past, there is none now and there is no reason to fear any in the future.
Coleman also blamed Al Gore for high energy prices.

Gore Is Invited To An Inconvenient Debate
Czech President Vaclav Klaus wants to take Gore to the carbon-neutral woodshed.
As long as Gore leaves his computer generated fictional catastrophe images at home, Klaus should do well.
The Earth Times and Drudge reported:
Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he is ready to debate Al Gore about global warming, as he presented the English version of his latest book that argues environmentalism poses a threat to basic human freedoms. "I many times tried to talk to have a public exchange of views with him, and he's not too much willing to make such a conversation," Klaus said. "So I'm ready to do it."
Klaus was speaking a the National Press Building in Washington to present his new book, Blue Planet in Green Shackles - What Is Endangered: Climate or Freedom?, before meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday.
"My answer is it is our freedom and, I might add, and our prosperity," he said.
Gore a former US vice president who has become a leading international voice in the cause against global warming, was co-winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Gore's effort was highlighted by his Oscar winning documentary film An Inconvienent Truth.
Just last week... It was announced that 31,000 scientists signed the Oregon Global Warming Skeptic Petition.

Four feet of snow... In May?
A wintry blizzard slammed South Dakota this week producing 60 mph winds and leaving up to 4 feet of snow near Harding.
Press and Dakotan reported:
A storm that produced a foot or more of snow and 60 mph winds brought things to a halt in western South Dakota Friday and then raised worries about flooding from a rapid melt.
Interstate 90 was closed between Wall and the Wyoming border. Officials in Spearfish, Belle Fourche and Butte County declared snow emergencies. All roads were closed to travel except for emergency vehicles...
There were unconfirmed reports of 30 inches of snow in the Lead-Deadwood area, and 4 feet near Harding in the far northwest corner of the state.
The storm knocked down power poles in Harding County, and several counties were experiencing intermittent power outages, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
"This is a serious situation and we need the public's cooperation to keep South Dakotans, emergency workers, and travelers safe for the next 24 hours," Gov. Mike Rounds said in a midday statement. "Right now the severe weather is making our response and recovery efforts very difficult. As the weather clears, we'll have more resources ready to clear the roads and help with the power concerns."
Winds up to 66 miles per hour were blowing snow around in Rapid City Friday morning, when Mayor Alan Hanks told people to stay home.
Further west... This spring, temperatures 15 degrees below normal have kept the snow in the Utah mountains, which is good news for skiers. (FOX Utah)
Earlier this week it was reported that global warming will take a break in the next decade thanks to a natural shift in ocean circulations.

Now you know... The earth is getting c-c-c-colder.

Despite the terrific fictional images in 'An Inconvenient Truth" new evidence shows that the earth is sliding into an ice age.
The Australian reported:
THE scariest photo I have seen on the internet is www.spaceweather.com, where you will find a real-time image of the sun from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, located in deep space at the equilibrium point between solar and terrestrial gravity.
What is scary about the picture is that there is only one tiny sunspot.
Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.
All four agencies that track Earth's temperature (the Hadley Climate Research Unit in Britain, the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, the Christy group at the University of Alabama, and Remote Sensing Systems Inc in California) report that it cooled by about 0.7C in 2007. This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record and it puts us back where we were in 1930. If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over.
There is also plenty of anecdotal evidence that 2007 was exceptionally cold. It snowed in Baghdad for the first time in centuries, the winter in China was simply terrible and the extent of Antarctic sea ice in the austral winter was the greatest on record since James Cook discovered the place in 1770.

Record snowfall continues to blanket the planet.
Global temperatures continue to drop.

But, thankfully there were no reports of climate change cannibalism in the news.

This extremely cold year hasn't stopped the world's most famous snake oil salesman from ca$hing in on the global warming hysteria.
Newsbusters reported this latest admission by Al Gore:
"There are a lot of great investments you can make. If you are investing in tar sands, or shale oil, then you have a portfolio that is crammed with sub-prime carbon assets. And it is based on an old model. Junkies find veins in their toes when the ones in their arms and their legs collapse. Developing tar sands and coal shale is the equivalent. Here are just a few of the investments I personally think make sense. I have a stake in these so I’ll have a disclaimer there. But geo-thermal concentrating solar, advanced photovoltaics, efficiency, and conservation."

In Canada the record snow and cold is causing armed clashes!
A record snowfall in eastern Canada this winter has inspired some, crushed others, led to a rash of snow-blower thefts and incited at least two armed clashes, authorities said Wednesday.
Scientists are calling the disorder "snow rage."

An elderly Quebec City man pulled a 12-gauge shotgun on a female snowplow operator on Sunday for blowing snow onto his property, after warning her.

In fact, the BBC even admitted today that global temperatures have not risen since 1998:
Global temperatures will drop slightly this year as a result of the cooling effect of the La Nina current in the Pacific, UN meteorologists have said.
The World Meteorological Organization's secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, told the BBC it was likely that La Nina would continue into the summer.
This would mean global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.
But experts say we are still clearly in a long-term warming trend - and they forecast a new record high temperature within five years.
It's been a very difficult year inside the global warming cult. Not only was there record snow and cold across the globe, but one of the prestigious global warming religionists is being accused of fraud.

Several scientific studies along with record cold temperatures this past year in both hemispheres is shedding light on the fallacy of manmade global warming.
Merinews reported:
Satellite measurements available since 1979 show no warming in the southern hemisphere and the trend in the northern hemisphere appears to have waned since 2001.
--In August 2007, the UK Met Office acknowledged that obvious global warming had stopped.
--Paleo-climate scientist Bob Carter testifying before the US Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works has noted that the accepted global average temperature statistics used by IPCC show no ground-based warming has occurred since 1998.
--A research led by David Bromwich, Professor of Atmospheric Science in the Department of Geography at Ohio State University and researchers with the Byrd Polar Research Centre at Ohio State University shows that during the late 20th century, the temperature in Antarctica did not rise to the level predicted by many global warming models.
--According to UN scientist Madhav L. Khandekar, a retired Environment Canada scientist and an expert IPCC reviewer in 2007, the recent worldwide analysis of ocean surface temperatures shows that sea surface temperatures over world oceans are slowly declining since mid-1998.
--While the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is steadily rising from 280 ppm and might reach 560 ppm by 2100 as predicted by IPCC, the world’s average temperature, instead of following a steep upward gradient, is actually plunging after a period of upward trend. However, the IPCC is not coming out publicly with the truth surrounding the correlation between rise in carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere and its possible consequence on global warming, if any.
--A study by researchers of the Atmospheric Science Group, Department of Mathematical Science, at the University of Wisconsin, found that global warming in the last century was linked to natural causes.
--The Royal Meteorological Institute at Brussels in its report last year said that not carbon dioxide but the most important greenhouse gas was water vapour; it was responsible for 75 per cent of the greenhouse effect. According to Belgian climate scientist Lu Debontridder, the warm winters of the last few years in Belgium are simply due to the North-Atlantic oscillation that has absolutely nothing to do with carbon dioxide.
--A study published in Science last September found that contrary to past inferences from ice core records, carbon dioxide did not cause the end of the last ice age. According to the same study, deep-sea temperatures warmed about 1,300 years before the tropical surface ocean and well before the rise in atmospheric carbon dioxide.
--USC geologist Lowell Scot, the lead author of the study, said that the climate dynamics are much more complex than simply saying that carbon dioxide rises and the temperature warms.
--The IPCC climate model is based on the assumption that increased warming would cause more rainfall that would produce more clouds on the higher reaches of the atmosphere. Since high clouds have a net warming effect this would cause more warming, more rainfall and the cycle will continue. It is this positive feedback that causes the UN climate models to predict a temperature rise in the range of 2.5 degree Celsius to 4.7 degree Celsius due to rise in the level of carbon dioxide to 560 ppm. Dr Roy Spencer along with researchers at the University of Alabama Huntsville and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, California, after observing the temperatures, clouds and rainfall reported that warming is actually associated with fewer high clouds. There is no data to support the theory that more rainfall will produce more high-altitude clouds.
--The mainstream media seems to be purposely ignoring the bulk of the findings by renowned researchers throughout the globe that the current global warming fear attributed solely to carbon dioxide rise is utterly unfounded.
Dave wrote in that the February global temperature anomalies show that February like January was another cold month.
Have they asked Al Gore to return the Peace Prize, yet?

Record snows fell in Columbuas, Ohio on Saturday breaking previous record set in 1910.
The AP reported:
The heavy winter storm dumped more than 20 inches of snow on Columbus on Saturday, while blizzard conditions shut down highways and stranded air travelers in the region.
The storm eventually swept into the East Coast, battering Pennsylvania and New Jersey with a line of thunderstorms. By early Sunday, tens of thousands were left without electric power.
High winds in Ohio whipped the snow into 3-foot-tall drifts in some places and cut visibility to less than a quarter mile, the National Weather Service said.
"We will get through this," Gov. Ted Strickland said Saturday. "The snow will stop, the wind will cease, and the sun will shine. But until that happens we need to be smart, take care of ourselves and attempt to be helpful to others."
The storm, which rolled in Friday, dumped 20.4 inches of snow on Columbus, breaking the city's previous record of 15.3 inches set in February 1910, the weather service said. Cincinnati and Cleveland received about a foot of snow.

The U.S. National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) reported that many American cities and towns suffered record cold temperatures in January and early February. According to the NCDC, the average temperature in January "was -0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average."
China is surviving its most brutal winter in a century. Temperatures in the normally balmy south were so low for so long that some middle-sized cities went days and even weeks without electricity because once power lines had toppled it was too cold or too icy to repair them.
There have been so many snow and ice storms in Ontario and Quebec in the past two months that the real estate market has felt the pinch as home buyers have stayed home rather than venturing out looking for new houses.
In just the first two weeks of February, Toronto received 70 cm of snow, smashing the record of 66.6 cm for the entire month set back in the pre-SUV, pre-Kyoto, pre-carbon footprint days of 1950.
And remember the Arctic Sea ice? The ice we were told so hysterically last fall had melted to its "lowest levels on record? Never mind that those records only date back as far as 1972 and that there is anthropological and geological evidence of much greater melts in the past.
The ice is back.

Vietnam is currently suffering from the longest ever cold spell on record.
60,000 head of cattle are dead and 100,000 hectares of rice are ruined due to the record cold.
The Earth Times reported:
Hanoi - Record-setting cold weather has killed more than 8,000 cattle and 100,000 hectares of paddy rice in northern Vietnam since mid-January, officials said Tuesday. Most of the cattle have died in northern mountainous provinces, where temperatures during the month-long cold spell have sometimes dropped to below zero Celsius, a rarity in Vietnam.
"We fear that the number of cattle killed by coldness and shortage of food in northern provinces will keep rising in the coming days," said Hoang Kim Giao, director of the Ministry of Agriculture's Livestock Department.
The cold spell, which the National Hydrometeorology Forecast Center says is the longest ever in Vietnam, has also killed up to 100,000 hectares of the winter-spring crop of paddy rice throughout the northern provinces.
However, agriculture officials say the situation will not hurt the country's rice production this year.
"Vietnam has more than 3.6 million hectares of paddy rice in the winter-spring crop, and farmers can replant the dead paddy rice area before March 5 with no loss in production," said Nguyen Tri Ngoc, director of the ministry's Cultivation Department.
The ongoing cold spell has lasted for 32 days, breaking the 31-day record in 1989.

This 2007-2008 winter has ended up being one of the coldest in decades.

Satellite data shows that concerns over the levels of sea ice may have been premature.
It was feared that the polar caps were vanishing because of the effects of global warming.
But figures from the respected US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration show that almost all the “lost” ice has come back.
Ice levels which had shrunk from 13million sq km in January 2007 to just four million in October, are almost back to their original levels.
Figures show that there is nearly a third more ice in Antarctica than is usual for the time of year.
The data flies in the face of many current thinkers and will be seized on by climate change sceptics who deny that the world is undergoing global warming.
A photograph of polar bears clinging on to a melting iceberg has become one of the most enduring images in the campaign against climate change.
It was used by former US Vice President Al Gore during his Inconvenient Truth lectures about mankind’s impact on the world. But scientists say the northern hemisphere has endured its coldest winter in decades.
They add that snow cover across the area is at its greatest since 1966.

RARE SNOW BLANKETS THE ACROPOLIS IN GREECE...
The coldest temperatures in the last 100 years are expected in Greece this weekend.
The News ERT reported:
A new cold wave will hit Greece in the night as per meteorologists. Snowfalls, gale-force winds and low temperatures will extend from northern Greece to the rest of the country in the weekend. It will snow in Attica, where the lowest temperatures of the last 100 years may prevail. The temperature will drop several degrees below zero. The extreme weather conditions will hit Greece mainly on Sunday. The authorities are on alert to combat any problems that may arise, while the General Secretariat of Political Protection advises attention to people when circulating; calling them to check the water network of the block of buildings they are living in. The weather is expected to improve as of next Tuesday.

Temperatures were forecast to plunge to minus-11 degrees Celsius (12 degrees Fahrenheit) in parts of northern Greece- The Star.

A record cold January has helped winter sea ice grow across the Arctic.
Temperatures in January set cold weather records and caused the Arctic Sea Ice to expand to its previous levels.
The Financial Post reported:
The Cryosphere reported that the Arctic sea ice is back... and it's thick.
The disappearing sea ice that was supposedly going to dramatically change the North, if not the world, is back. Thanks to really cold weather -- gee, where did that come from?--winter sea ice has been growing across the North. "Clearly we're seeing the ice coverage rebound back to more near normal coverage for this time of year," says Gilles Langis, a senior ice forecaster with the Canadian Ice Service in Ottawa.
There goes a good story. And if you doubt me on this, the source is as biased on climate change as sources get: The CBC. And if the weather stays cold, the ice will get even thicker, says the report...
This isn't the only sign of rising sea ice and extra-cold temperatures. The U.S. National Climatic Date Center reported the other day that temperatures in the United States set cold records in January. "The average temperature in January 2008 was 30.5 F. This is -0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average, the 49th coolest January in 114 years."
...As for ice, A University of Illinois report showed that Arctic sea ice is back to its previous level.
The American Thinker reported that not only is the ice growing, but it is growing thick.

It's not just South and Central Asia that is suffering through record cold and snow.

A Wisconsin snowfall record was shattered this week.
More than 79 inches have fallen on the Madison region this winter.
The Capital Times reported:
Madison should end up with about 3-4 inches of fluffy light snow today, which will push the seasonal total close to 79 inches, shattering the all-time snowfall record of 76.1 inches set in the winter of 1978-79.
"It's a record," said Weather Central meteorologist Brian Olson. "There's no official word yet since we have to wait for the snow to stop, but we have enough on the ground to say the seasonal snowfall record has been broken."
Forecasters predicted up to 6 inches of snow from the latest snow-producing system to hit southern Wisconsin, but for once, residents are glad the snows were less than expected.
"We were on the low side of this one, instead of having the snows exceeding expectations," Olson said.
Light snow overnight coupled with lows in the single digits produced slick driving conditions this morning, causing numerous slideoffs and ditch diving, especially on the interstate.

Mumbai, India is suffering through the coldest ever temperatures recorded for the month of February.
India Muslims reported:
A nail-biting cold wave is making the country's financial capital - Mumbai - shiver. The minimum temperature in the city dipped to a season's low of 8.5 degrees Celsius Friday.
"This is the lowest-ever temperature recorded in the city for the month of February," said K. Sathi Devi, director of weather bureau here.
The minimum temperature recorded Friday at Colaba, in south Mumbai, was 13.4 degrees Celsius, while at Santacruz in north Mumbai it was 8.5 degrees Celsius. This is the coldest ever in the city of stars in the past 40 years. But the record low is 7.4 on Jan 22, 1962.
"The cold wave is expected to continue for at least another two-three days (till Sunday)," Sathi Devi told IANS.
In Mumbai, the roads suddenly wore a deserted look as people preferred to stay indoors to keep warm.
"I was supposed to go out for an evening jog but did not feel like leaving home due to the chilly winds blowing. It's almost freezing," said Riddhi Oza, an executive working for a multinational company in Oshiwara, north Mumbai.

NPR reported on the crisis in Tajikistan this week:
The lights have gone out in most of Tajikistan, the poorest republic in the former Soviet Union.
The country is facing an energy crisis in the midst of the coldest winter in more than 25 years.
With millions of people left without electricity, heat or running water, aid organizations are warning of a growing humanitarian crisis.
For the past 15 days, there has been no heat, electricity or running water in the freezing maternity ward of a small country hospital in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe.
In that time, Adolat Shoreva and her small team of nurses have helped deliver 13 babies — by candlelight.
"In my 40 years as a nurse, I've never seen it this bad," Shoreva says. "I sit in the dark at night and cry."
The unusually cold winter has overwhelmed the country's aging Soviet-era infrastructure, leaving millions of people cold, in the dark, without access to clean water.
Central Asia is dealing with record cold temperatures this year.
The people of Uzbekistan are also struggling with the record cold.

Record low temperatures killed at least 654 people in Afghanistan this winter.

An Afghan official said at least 654 people have died from the record low temperatures.
The AP Singapore reported
Bitter cold, snowstorms and avalanches have killed at least 654 people in Afghanistan this winter, a government official said.
Weather-related incidents have also left 84 people injured and killed at least 100,000 cattle, said Abdul Matin Edrak, head of the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Commission.
Afghanistan is one of the world's poorest countries and is largely mountainous, with winter temperatures often plunging well below freezing.
Neighboring Turkmenistan sent aid to help the Afghan people cope with the extreme conditions.

There has been a global drop in temperature of 0.63 degrees Centigrade in the past 12 months.
Of course we already have had a heads up from all the wire reports around the world talking about the significant winter weather events that have occurred worldwide in the last month, but until now, there hasn’t been a measure of how the planet was doing for the winter of 2007/2008.
Remote Sensing Systems of Santa Rosa just posted the latest MSU (Microwave Sounder Unit) data.
January posted a -.08°C near global anomaly between -70S and 82.5N latitude (the viewshed of the satellite sounder). That makes it the coldest month since January 2000, and the 2nd coldest January for the planet in 15 years. Both northern and southern hemispheres posted negative anomalies of -.120°C and -.038°C respectively, happening for the first time since January 2000.

Arctic Ice Melt Opens Northwest Passage

PARIS (AP) — Arctic ice has shrunk to the lowest level on record, new satellite images show, raising the possibility that the Northwest Passage that eluded famous explorers will become an open shipping lane.
The European Space Agency said nearly 200 satellite photos this month taken together showed an ice-free passage along northern Canada, Alaska and Greenland, and ice retreating to its lowest level since such images were first taken in 1978.
