OBAMA AND THE EXTREMISTS

Since the election, Hannity has described his radio show as the outpost of "the conservative underground," as if a show that's legally on over 500 stations could be underground in any real sense of that word. There is little doubt that there are many conservatives who think America will become a radical country under the Democrats and last night I heard on Mike Gallagher's show of a group that is trying to organize these people - Grassfire. They ask people to "join the resistance" and sign a petition that opposes what they mistakenly think will happen if unopposed.

They hope to have 1,000,000 signatures on the petition by Inauguration Day and right now, they are quite a bit short of that goal:

So far, Hannity and Grassfire haven't had much of an effect on the general public and let's hope that doesn't change.

Just give it a rest, Steve. I know, it's easy to get fired up, and I have on holidays too. But this is Christmas. Hope you're having a good one. Partisan warfare can resume later in the week.

Donnie, you're having a hissy fit over the Holidays. Give it a rest you anti-American, anti-intellect, pro-reich-wing propagandist.

So . . even if the right wingnuts get 1,000,000 signatures by Inauguration Day, what then ? Who cares? Let them make fools of themselves - that's what Hannity does best.

oooh, it's a movement--374 people joined in the last 24 hours!

Lessee... at that rate, um... they'll break 340,000 by inauguration day.

Oh, wait, that'll be waaaay short of a million (do you think Hannity will notice that more than that are showing up to CELELBRATE the inauguration?).

Someone break it gently to him that at the current rate, that very slow--wet?--grassfire won't hit a million until after Obama's inauguration in 2012.

I've alway loved the 'underground,' 'deep in a bunker' promotional aspects of these gasbags - the question, of course, is - why, if this is a center-right nation, do they have to go 'underground'? It's all hogwash, and why anyone would even listen to Hannity as anything more than a comedian is eyond me ...

So let's say they get a million "signatures" on their internet petition. Then what? It's meaningless. If this is the "resistance", Obama has nothing to worry about.

Supports my long-held belief that resentment and paranoia are major components of the mindset of these red state GOPers and their spokesmen like Sean Insanity, Limbaugh and other demagogues who keep their loony base fired up.
