BACK TO THE 50s

Just for review, let's recall what Sen. Joseph McCarthy said about Gen. Marshall:
Early in the presidential campaign Senator McCarthy issued a scathing condemnation of George Marshall, who had served as President Truman’s Secretary of State after retiring from the Army. The Senator said the former Chief of Staff was, “part of a conspiracy so immense, an infamy so black, as to dwarf any in the history of man.” This was absurd, but in 1952 it was dangerous to point out how absurd McCarthy’s charges were, especially if you were the Republican candidate for president.

Charles at LGF found a video clip of a TEA party and just before the 2 minute mark, a man starts blathering about a 50 year conspiracy by the Communists to take over American by infiltrating out major institutions. Toward the end of the clip, a woman shouts out that we should burn the books and by that she meant in part books about evolution.

If a lot of the other TEA parties turn out kooks like this, this entire project will backfire on the wingers.

Damn, Steve, you airhead. Charles purports that a couple of kooks at one meeting is representative of a movement. The Tea Party are a nationwide tide against the administration. There will be lots of weirdos who will be part of it. That doesn't mean it won't be successful. Rather than focusing on a couple of McCarthyite hicks, you folks ought to be getting out an mobilizing yourself. Mobilization is the momentum of today, but you're too stupid to know that, right?

Donald,

I monitor wingnut radio stations in my area and there are many more "kooks" than you think.
