GOD'S GRACE

You may recall the story of Jericho from the Old Testament. Here I'd like to concentrate on this part of the story:
JOSHUA 6

17 The city and all that is in it shall be devoted to the Lord for destruction. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall live because she hid the messengers we sent.

21 Then they devoted to destruction by the edge of the sword all in the city, both men and women, young and old, oxen, sheep, and donkeys.

Fundie minister R. C. Sproul in his 7/17/2009 sermon explains why all, even the children, had to be killed. Sproul says "on the surface this seems barbaric" but 1) this was common in warfare during these times and 2) God didn't want any pagan influence in the Holy Land, so this is like a Jewish jihad.

So, it's OK because everyone else does it and because God hates pagans. Nice, huh?
