Phoenix, AZ, is a GOP town and so is Maricopa, the county Phoenix is in. According to the Bureau of Reclamation, the Salt River Project brought more water to the area and between 1902 and 1940, the Phoenix area saw an increase of 60,000 people. In 1900, Maricopa County only had 20,457 people.
The next time you hear a Phoenician whine about the Federal government, bring up this factoid.
