In 2008, they preferred McCain over Obama, 53% to 45% with 2% not voting for either one. In 2004, they preferred Bush over Kerry, 54% to 46%. In 2000, Gore beat Bush, 51% to 47%. In 1996, Clinton beat Dole, 48% to 44%. In 1992, Clinton smacked the elder Bush, 50% to 38%.
In 1988, Bush squeaked by Dukakis, 50% to 49%. In 1984, Reagan crushed Mondale, 60% to 39% and he did nearly as well against Carter in 1980, 54% to 41%.
So, if we leave out Reagan's two elections, the seniors divide up pretty evenly between Democrat and Republican.
