REACTIONARY ECONOMICS PROFESSORS ARE STILL WITH US

Even at Harvard, though that may not be surprising. Prof. Greg Mankiw asserts a facile connection between income and SAT score by claiming that the relation is due to the correlation between income and IQ. This is reminiscent of the social Darwinism of the infamous Bell Curve by Charles Murry and Richard Hernnstein, ably debunked by Stephen Jay Gould in The Mismeasure of Man.

John Sides and Brad DeLong easily demolish Mankiw's argument, so easily that one is led to believe that Mankiw wants his claim to be true instead of knowing it is.
