THE HAGUE, Netherlands, Sep. 11, 2009
(AP) The top commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan said Friday he sees no signs of a major al-Qaida presence in the country, but says the terror group still maintains close links to insurgents.

OK, I GUESS WE'RE PULLING OUT OF AFGHANISTAN
Pres. Obama has clearly stated our goal in Afghanistan: defeating the al-Qaeda threat.

Aj Strata says Iraq is won again, brought to the kind of "successful end" which must be duplicated in Afghanistan. Since Iraq P.M. Maliki consorts with the Iranian regime's friendly government, which Strata says is funding the Taliban in Afghanistan, which in turn is acting in concert with Al Qaeda there and in Pakistan, we wonder why Strata calls Iraq a victorious war.
Then again, AJ has been saying the Taliban have been retreating in Afghanistan for two years, controlling less and less territory, when in truth pretty much the reverse has happened.
Aj today says the potentially completely discredited Obama will forfeit the remainder of his presidency if he doesn't bow to McKhrystal's demands for more troops and avoid being cast as the guy who gave Afghanistan away when only one more quick KO punch was needed.
I wonder if AJ realizes more than half of all Americans poll as opposing continuing the war? I wonder if he understands McKrystal and his allies concede victory is years away, even if they get the troops they demand?
Strata doesn't believe his own bombast of course, which is why although he's declared victory in Iraq for two years, he's never advocated pulling US troops out of Iraq to Afghanistan where they would have been, and are, sorely needed.
Is there a bigger poseur on the blogosphere who has been wrong more often than Strata in his pseudo-analysis of both war theaters while pretending not to notice his ongoing mistakes?

I don't know if AJ is pretending. These folks seem pretty good at suppressing facts that don't fit in with their ideology.
