Poll: McCain favorability at lowest point since 1994
Sen. John McCain's statewide favorability is just 41 percent, the longtime Arizona Republican's lowest showing since January 1994, according to a new poll released Thursday by Phoenix-based Behavior Research Center.
Among registered Arizona Republicans, McCain does better: 52 percent say he has been doing an "excellent" or "good" job. Only 14 percent of Republicans give him a grade of "poor" or "very poor."
Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., who as minority whip is the Senate's No. 2 GOP leader, has even worse numbers. Statewide, only 35 percent say he has been doing an "excellent" or "good" job. But 50 percent of GOP voters give him those high marks.
