ANOTHER CALENDAR TRICK

When Pope Gregory reformed the Julian calendar, 10 days actually disappeared by papal fiat.  Of course, this did lead to a more accurate calendar and thus was a social good.  The MOTU at Goldman Sachs also manipulated their (fiscal) calendar and in the process made December 2008 disappear from the books.  This allowed Goldman to not only hide losses in this now-disappeared month, it also allowed the MOTU to grant themselves HUGE stock grants.
