SCARING THE RUBES

An editorial in IBD tries to portray Egyptians as just about as bad as Al Qaida by selectively reporting the results of a 2010 Pew survey of Islamic countries.  IBD omitted the following facts from the survey:

72% have a negative view of Al Qaida
70% are either very or somewhat concerned about Islamic extremism
66% have a negative view of Hezbollah
61% see no conflict between modernizers and fundamentalists
31% DO see a conflict but of those, only 59% favor the fundamentalists (18.29 % overall)
59% think democracy is preferable to any other kind of government
