BERLIN (Reuters) - German police arrested three suspected members of al Qaeda on Friday, averting "a concrete and imminent danger" of a terrorist operation, authorities said.
The newspaper Bild quoted security sources as saying the three, all young Moroccans, were arrested in Duesseldorf and Bochum. It said police seized large amounts of explosives.
"We succeeded in preventing a concrete and imminent danger," Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich said in a statement. "This proves that Germany continues to be in the crosshairs of international terrorists, and we need to remain vigilant."

MORE EFFECTIVE POLICE WORK
This is one of my old peeves: Back during the run up to the 2004 election, John Kerry was attacked because he said that combating Al Qaida was mostly a police action, not a military action. The last post I made about this was on 9/17/2009.

Kerry's no Kucinich-or Bacevich.
He's still more part of the problem than the solution. Also approved of Libyan attack and use of some mercenary forces in Iraq once troops exit.
