THE WHEELS OF JUSTICE CAN BE A BIT SLOW

Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County (Phoenix) Arizona has been under scrutiny for some time for abuse of power and other allegations:

Joe Arpaio's two aides put on administrative leave after accusation of misconduct

A spokesman for the Pinal County sheriff said Babeu has not yet reviewed the 63-page memo, which alleges widespread wrongdoing by Chief Deputy David Hendershott and others.

Munnell asked Arpaio to place Hendershott, Deputy Chief Larry Black and Capt. Joel Fox on administrative leave pending an independent investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Black and Fox were placed on leave with pay Thursday.

Seven months later, heads start rolling:

Hendershott, Arpaio's top aide, leaves post amid investigation

Arpaio on Wednesday accepted Hendershott's immediate resignation. He also accepted Deputy Chief Larry Black's resignation effective May 3. Both men were told they would otherwise be fired.
