(h/t Steve Benen)

I noted that Sean Hannity and Michael Savage claimed that a belief in global warming is really a substitute for a belief in Christianity and Andrew Sabl at The Reality-Based Community has found that this is still a living meme for American conservatives and gives this recent example from a 2010 edition of the National Review:
Green religions (and political parties) of all stripes — including Wiccanism and Gaia worship — are stronger in Europe than in the U.S. For those not of a supernatural religious bent, the secular religion of environmentalism has replaced Marxism in many minds (including the minds of many former Marxists).

I have written before that belief in anthropogenic global warming is more akin to a religion than to sound scientific practice.
